The Trustees are elected be members of the local association. ## **Objectives and activities for public benefit** Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We empower girls to be their best and face the challenges of growing up today. We’ve been doing that through adventure, friendship and fun for over 100 years. Girlguiding is dedicated to creating a better world for girls and young women. We empower girls, we give them space to grow and ensure that each one can get involved - no matter what their background or ability. Whoever they are, wherever they're from, girls and young women can do amazing things - we give them the chance. Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we empower girls to find their voice and build skills and confidence, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community. Girls from age 4 -18 meet regularly as Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. Together they learn skills, grow in confidence, make lifelong friendships, help their communities and have lots of fun. Guiding is so much more than an after school activity or a way for girls to spend an evening. With guiding, girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. They go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and lead their own camp. Or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends. Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. And to make a difference to the world around them. ## **Achievements in the year** During 2022 we celebrated 100 years of guiding in Chandlers Ford, holding celebrations for all our current young members and hosting a special afternoon team for adult volunteers past and present. As always, our ongoing focus has remained on developing girls and young women and we have been able to move back towards many more unit trips, participation in large scale events and activities as well as residential events to support our members in the post-pandemic period.
