CHAIRPERSON’S SUMMARY :
This year was a quiet year with the Covid pandemic arriving in March 2020, the Old School hall closed its doors to all bookings and hires in March 2020 until March 2021 with the exception of Harpole Pre-school who had sole use of the building to maintain childcare for keyworkers during the various lockdowns for the duration of the COVID pandemic. After several planned attempts to re-open but then going into further lockdowns or restrictions the Old School Hall was finally able to re-open to the community in January 2021, although hirers didn’t begin to rebook until well into the next financial year. All legislation and recommendations regarding the safe re-opening, hire and Covid procedures were put into place and followed.
The income the Old School Hall received during this time was made up of Harpole Pre-school’s rent and the government grants that were made available to buildings and community groups such as The Old School Hall.
During this time moneies were spent on a new floor in the back room as this had become rotten and general maintenance to ensure when re-opening occurred the building was in a fit state to do so.
