Chair, Olivia Carlton Chair Tr&gsurer 24° June 2026 March 2012 ## **Hounslow Symphony Orchestra Accounts for 2024/25** ## **Report for AGM, to be held by Zoom at 8pm on Wednesday February 4[th] 2026** A surplus of £3039.57 was made during the year. This consolidates what was already an improving financial position. The total in all bank accounts at year end was £8,499.27 with no liabilities. ## Income We had very generous donations from our patron, Michel Kallipetis, of £3000 during the year, in recognition of it being our 70[th] anniversary year. Our government subsidy, claimed through the Orchestra Tax Relief scheme, was just over £4,600. No gift aid claim was made. That will be claimed in the 2025/6 year and will bring a little over £2,000. Ticket sales increased by just over £1800 compared to the previous year. Bar sales were a little lower because the bar for the Chiswick School concert was run by the school’s parent teacher association. Many thanks to Phil Garty for his continued efficient running of the bar at most of our concerts. We had helpful income from the teas and coffees sold at rehearsals. Many thanks to Yolande for all her work in providing these. Two fundraising events were held. The 2024 Christmas concert raffle and a bingo night in Jan/Feb 2025. Many thanks to Christine, Sonia, Nicola and everyone else who was involved in the organising and delivery of these events. ## Expenses A very well-deserved increase in fees was agreed during the year for the conductor and leader. Both soloist and extra player totals were considerably higher than in the previous year. This reflects the repertoire chosen the concerts performed during HSO’s 75[th] year. However, extra player costs would have been much higher if Sonia had not worked her magic in persuading extra wind and brass players to join HSO for concerts without payment. The Making Music administrative platform was introduced during the year, adding to expenses but streamlining and broadening some of the work of the committee. ## Reflections This was the second year of performing four concerts rather than three and of collaborating with Chiswick School. All four concerts were well received. The collaboration with Chiswick School was a major success this year, both musically and financially. HSO is fortunate in the generosity of our patron, Michel Kallipetis. The government subsidy claimed through Orchestra Tax Relief remains an important support, contributing to our financial stability. It is important that HSO continues to focus on high membership numbers, excellent audience attendance and cost control for concerts. I would like to thank everyone involved in delivering a very successful year.
