Structure Governance and Mana Governin Document ment The society is a registered charity and is g)verned by the rules of the Richmond Shakespeare Society. As amended al the special general meeting held al the Mary walla￿ Theatre on 6 July 1987 and subsequently amended at various AGM'S and EGM'S. Methods of Recruitin intin Trustees Trustees are appointed from lime lo time. as necessary. by the society in General Meeting from ordinary or honorary lrfe members who are willing to be so appointed. and anisation Structure The Society is managed by the Officers. Chairnian. Secretsry, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer who, with eight members of the General Committee, meet monthly to corTrducl the business of the Society. They are assisted by the IAembership Secretary and varB)us ad-hoc groups as the need arises. There has always been a pemianenl working group set up for the Summer Show. Risk Mana ement Major risks which the charity faced have been idenltFied. The trustees have set up the appropriate and robust financial procedure and budget for the C4)ming year. Committee members have regular meetings in order lo monitor, control. analyse an(J review I￿sInesS activities. By doing so, the charity is able to identify risks and develop remedies to deal with them in an effective and eff￿lellt way. Page 2

RICHMOND SHAKESPEARE SOCIE Annual Re rt Of The Trustees Continued For the year ended: 30 June 2021 Ob"ectives and activities for the ublic benefit continued The rules of the Society provides Ihal the objects of the society are= The promotion of knowledge and appreciation by the public of drama and of the works of Shakespeare in particular, and poetry generally, within the a￿3 of Richmond upon Thames In furtherance of the above object but not olherwse the swety shall have power to engage in the production of Shakespearean and other dramat￿ works for the purpose of fulfilling the first stated object The encouragement amongst members of the society and of the public al large of the study and discussion of the Wofks and historical background of Shakespeare The study and teaching of all or any matters relating to amateur theatre. In furtherance of these 0￿ects the kniety woduces each year a season of plays and related acts"vilies. The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the charity commission in exercising their [￿r5 and duties as required by section 4 of the Charities Act 2011. Membership of the Society is open to all members of the communsty and all members and their guests are entitled to attend perfomiances and other events that the society mounts in furtherance of ils objects - Those who wish lo be cast in a production must auditson and auditions are open lo all. If cast, they musl becorne full members of the Society. Part of the Society5 athities is to run the RSS Young Actors Cornpany and the RSS Junior Actors Company for persons aged between 11 and 18 years. Membership of these companies is open to all in the relevant age-groups and each Company meets v￿kly. Members of the RSS Young Actors Company partake in an annual production 21 Ihe Mary Wallace Theatre. The Swiely is a member of the Church Street Association in TW￿kenhaM and partakes in events organised by such associatsons. The Society is a member of The Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain and is represented at the Guild's conferences. Achievements and Perfomiances The year ending 30 June 2021 was inevttaljy affected by the CovKI-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns with no plays being able lo be produced in the Mary Wallace Theatre from March 2020 until 26 June 2021. when were delighted to re-open our theatre wth performances of Summerland by Aditia Jones Despite this a regular series of online events was organised comprising play and [￿￿try readings together with monologue evenings showcasing members own writing induding readings of Under Milkwood, Pygmalion, TS Eliol's Cals, School for Scandal and Pride and Prejudice alongside pieces written by members. In De￿rnber a series of rehearsed streamed performances of The All-Female Pallas Players Present WHISKY GALORE were mounted. Page 3

The Sociews trustees consider that an audit is not required for this penod under seclion 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 (The 2011 Act) and that an indeF*ndent examination is needed. Basis of Independent Examinerfs Statement Our examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission.
