## **Village Hall Annual Report 2022-2023**

**Trustees** :

Mr. John Boas

Mr. Kevin Taylor

Mr. Cliff Watts

Mr. Pat Brogan

Names of persons (or body) entitled to appoint Trustee: Residents of village of Badshot Lea in the county of Surrey.

## **Objects of Charity** :

To provide and maintain the premises known as `The Kiln, Badshot Lea Village Hall` as a venue for hire and use by the community.

## **Advisors:**

Bank: NatWest Bank Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7NP Accountant: Jones & Co, 41 Queens Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, GU14 6JP

## **Charities Activities and Achievements during the year in relation to its objectives:**

The Trustees continue to hire the village hall and its grounds to clubs, societies and local organisations. Many hirers are long standing and all serve the local community.

## **Work Planned for 2022-2023**

- continue to upgrade all lighting throughout the site to low consumption LED.

- upgrade boiler and heating controls to reduce energy consumption.

- replace the security door and frame providing access to the first and second floors.

Many of the clubs and societies using the hall are still struggling to build membership back to pre-covid levels and we have continued to support them through reduced fees. This has had a detrimental effect on our income and will force us to keep expenditure to essential work only.

## **Work completed 2022-2023**

- Lighting throughout the site was upgraded to low consumption LED.

- The boiler and heating controls were upgraded to reduce energy consumption.

- The security door and frame providing access to the first and second floors was replaced.

- All the window shutters were seen to be deteriorating more quickly than expected, some in a dangerous state, so all were replaced.

## **Work Planned for 2023- 2024**

There is no planned work as such owing to our continued reduction in income following the covid pandemic and the massive increase in energy costs for the site.

We will continue to carry out essential maintenance to keep the building safe and sound.

## **Grants**

We received no grants during 2022-2023.

## **Donations**

A donation of £100 was received to help pay for the hedge along our southern boundary.
