## Annual Report Launceston YFC 23/24

The year began with preparations for this years carnival float. The theme at being Grease and the club getting first at Camelford Carnival and 2[nd] Hatherleigh and Launceston Carnivals. Club also held events like harvest festival, fireworks night, carol singing and wreath making. The club finished off the Christmas celebrations with a Christmas Meal at Wilsey, the county carol service at Truro Catherdral and not forgetting partying hard at tinsel ball and the county carol after do held by Cornwall Young farmers.

The club started the calendar new year with the first charity event being the Christmas Tree Collection where we raised £600 for our chosen charities which this year were Farming Community Network and Children’s Hospice Southwest. Dung Run and Easter Bingo were the other two charity events we did throughout the year raising over £1000 at both events.

This year club also travelled to Newquay for the annual South West Area Weekend. Everyone had a brilliant weekend and there was a lot of sore heads by Sunday morning!

Cornwall YFC Competitions Day was a highlight of the year for the club, with members competing in competitions such as Stock Judging, Cookery, Tug of War and many more, with the club coming away with some great results and the cookery team coming first and both tug of war teams coming third.

Royal Cornwall Show was another highlight for the club this year with our cubicle theme being Gavin and Stacey. Members worked together to get the cubicle ready and the club was delighted to come away with sixth place in the cubicle and coming 4[th] overall out of the 20 clubs in Cornwall with our cookery, art, floristry, photography and handicraft entries which was an amazing achievement for the club.

Launceston Show was another great event for the club with the tent full of entries and lots of members of the public coming in and out of the YFC tent throughout day. With many compliments from the public of how good the tent looked; the club should be very proud of ourselves. Members also organised some entertainment in the main ring. The day finished with our After Show Party which was very profitable and enjoyed by all. The club would also like to say a big thank you to the Launceston Show committee

for all their support throughout the year and for allowing us to hold our after show do.

Cornwall YFC County Rally was another great success for club, coming 4[th] overall with club having lots of placings throughout the shed in the cookery, photography, art, handicraft and floristry sections. Also club having a junior and ladies tug of war team.

I wish anyone taking on a role tonight all the best and a piece of advice id give is to always to remember to believe in yourselves and you will get out what you put in so never be afraid to get involved.

As the clubs secretary this year, I would like to say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you that have helped with anything, without you guys the club wouldn’t have achieved all the amazing things it has this year and you should all be very proud of yourselves. Finally a massive thank you to Harri who I have been lucky enough to call my chairman, its been a pleasure.
