WORLDWIDE CRUSADES OPERATING AS WHITTLESEY CHRISTIAN CHURCH
TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021
“Worldwide Crusades” is a registered charity (number 275471), governed by a Trust Deed dated 1 January 1977, administered by a board of Trustees, comprising of present church members. Currently these are Richard Bibby, Christine Price, Geoff Rondazai, Marija Lysak, Eunice Smithyman and Brian Smithyman. Changes of Trustees are made on a unanimous or majority vote of those remaining.
The charitable trust was set up by Pastor Brian Smithyman and others in order to use its resources to promote the Gospel in any area of the world. It has had a presence in the Fenland area for many years, but since November 1997 has operated in the Fenland District and surrounding areas as Whittlesey Christian Church, based at 23 Broad Street, Whittlesey, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE7 1HA.
In November 1997 a mortgage was obtained in order to purchase our building from the United Reformed Church. In 2008, due to a generous donation, we were able to repay the remainder of the mortgage in full.
Growth continues at a steady and sustainable pace and allows for the solid and stable foundation which the church has enjoyed from its inception to continue; ensuring its long-term, positive presence in the community.
Marija Lysak continues to be employed by the Church as an assistant Senior Pastor and in administrative responsibilities, working four days per week.
Marija continues to be an essential part of the day-to-day operations and communityoriented activities of the Church, and works tirelessly to ensure smooth running of the increasingly challenging schedule.
The Whittlesey Festival was cancelled for 2020 due to the prevailing pandemic, but the Church intends to resume support when the Festival can safely return.
Our Church continues to serve in the administration, storage and distribution in connection with the Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid program, which has continued to provide a lifeline to increasing numbers of local people in need in difficult times.
Whilst the Church has faced a challenging year in respect of income, through careful financial management and through generous giving of committed members, the activities and outlook of the Church remain one of determination and positivity. We continue to reach out to the local community in anticipation of a spiritual revival in our community.
