BGOA Trust for Retived Racing Greyhounds- Trustees Report for the Year ended 31103124 Achievements & Performance Ayear in which a rehoming crisis has arisen in the Greyhound Racing industry has seenthe numberof dogs vve have rehomed dropped from over 70 to just 59 compared with the previous fiscal year. The crisis continues and a furtherfall in numbers is inevitable. Thus, resulting In a continuing fall in revenue from our rehoming activities. Greyhoundsare not alone in experiencingdifficulties in finding theiw forever homes. Every animal rescue in the country is full as many people are findingthe cost of keepinga peta financial burden, thanks to the rising cost of living and the vory high cost of veteri nary services cind pet i nsu rance. Our Social Media presence has never been greatcr, and we now enjoy the support of thc mcdia group National World. who publish news of our awareness and fundraising events In their online ptsblicalion, Sussex World and it's associated nowspapers distributed around the county of Sussex. We continue to enjoy successful visits to the Coral Brighton & Hovo Greyhound Stadium and the support ol their parent company Entain Plc. And our visits to Brighton, Fontwell Park and Plumpton Races also bedr fruit, but less rehoming enquiriesthan we would normally cxpect. Likewise our visits to Haskins and Notcutts Garden Cenrres. Thanks must also go to"Jollyes the Pet People" wbose store in Hai Isham cIIw8y8 welcomes visits from our volunteers and their hounds, as well as making fantastic donations of dog food with the assistance ot their customers whose generosity is greatly appyecialed and most welcome.
