## **Yaxham Village Amenies Associaon**

## **Report to the Chairty Commission for the year 1[st] January to 31[st] December 2024**

## **The Trustees of Yaxham Village Amenies Associaon administer and maintain Yaxham Village Hall for the benefit of the residents of Yaxham and the wider community who use the facilies available.**

In a repeat of last year’s report, 2024 was extremely successful in terms of bookings at the hall. The calendar shows the hall is occupied by various groups throughout the week and there are many children’s pares at weekends. The downside of that is that the hall may not be available for last-minute bookings that cannot be made in advance, ie wakes. However, we are sure that it is appreciated that without regular bookings the hall would not be financially viable, nor would there be the broad range of acvies available to those in the local area. Our Bookings Secretary does very best she can to accommodate last minute events for people who live, or have lived, in Yaxham.

We have been without a Chair since January 2021. I have covered many aspects of the role of Chair and am happy to connue as Treasurer but struggle dealing with maers that would usually be handled by a Chair and am aware that there are aspects of management that aren’t being covered. We are very keen to recruit more trustees to keep the Village Hall available for meengs.

An applicaon was made to Breckland for grant funding to cover the cost of re-sanding the hall floor and renewing supports, flooring and new carpet for the stage. The carpet on the stage was sorely in need of replacement and the stage creaked when walked on, highlighng the need for the supports to be strengthened. A second applicaon was made for an air source heat pump heater for the Community Room. The radiators had not been funconing fully (despite ‘experts’ having been called in) and the heang had to be boosted with electric fan heaters that are expensive to run. We received noficaon on Christmas Eve that we had been awarded a grant for the air source heat pump, but not the floor and stage. To comply with the condions of the grant, the work had to be completed by 1[st] February. We were extremely fortunate that the company who installed the air source system were able to complete the work in me. Work on the stage was completed in January 2025 (outside of the year being reported upon). The sanding of the hall floor will be tackled when funds are available.

In terms of fundraising, the Community Café connues to thrive. We successfully applied for a £500 grant from Breckland for a D Day commemoraon event which took place on 6[th] June. This was promoted as a free event and was aended by approximately 60 people. Commemorave gis were purchased and there was a free raffle.
