## **Yaxham Village Amenies Associaon**

## **Charity Commission Report for the year 1[st] January to 31[st] December 2023**

## **The Trustees of Yaxham Village Amenies Associaon administer and maintain Yaxham Village Hall for the benefit of the residents of Yaxham and the wider community who use the facilies available.**

The past year has been extremely successful in terms of bookings at the hall. A glance at the calendar shows that the hall is occupied by a variety of groups throughout the week and there has been an increase in the number of children’s pares at weekends. The downside of that is that the hall may not be available for last-minute bookings that cannot be made in advance, ie wakes. Sadly, a number of people from the village passed away recently and the hall wasn’t available. However, we are sure that it is appreciated that without regular bookings the hall would not be financially viable, nor would there be the broad range of acvies available to those in the local area.

We have been without a Chair since January 2021. The Treasurer has covered many aspects of the role of Chair and is happy to connue as Treasurer, but struggles dealing with maers that would usually be handled by a Chair and feels that she cannot connue in the two roles. We are very keen to recruit more trustees to keep the Village Hall available and invite anybody interested to speak with us about coming on board. It is not an onerous commitment and the more trustees we have, the easier everything becomes for all.

The biggest project during 2023, aside from general maintenance and repairs, was the removal, redecoraon and replacement of the carpet in the Community Room, which has improved the space enormously for informal meengs and social events like the Community Café. We are grateful to the Yaxham Parish Charity for the grant that enabled this improvement to go ahead.

In terms of fundraising, the Community Café connues to thrive. A ‘King’s Coronaon Café’ was held on Thursday 11[th] May with music and commemorave gis, which was very well aended. Other events included a Mama Mia evening and a New Year’s Eve party, both of which were enjoyed by many residents of the village and wider community. We are limited in expanding village events due to a consistent lack of support by volunteers.

Note 1: The figure for 2022 includes a donation from the CIC. The CIC accounts were delayed and a donation has not yet been made from the CIC to YVAA but will be made at some point in 2024. The CIC made a substantial contribution towards the cost of new carpet for the Community Room.

Note 2: A grant of £11,500 was received from the Parish Council to pay for the cost of removing the wall in the Community Room. The balance of the grant was put towards redecorating and new carpet, part of which was funded directly by the CIC.

Note 3: There was a blockage of pipes to the men's toilets and an issue with drains in the bar that together came to £1,300.
