for our Chinese women and LGBTQ+ community members to connect vriih nature and participate in the
conseNation process, vknich is often exdusÈve to white and kxzl cornmunities. Not only did we gain specafic
conseNation knovAeOJe and skills, but we also leamed about the htstory of Epping Forest. We deeply
appreaate the work of EFHT and their efftjrts to make nature more accessible to marginalised groups..

Ihe Centenary Walk) from Manor P8rk in tho south of thè Forest to Epping in thè north of the Forest. We

Thè Green Team also worked with the Crty of London's En￿rOnmental Resilien￿ Team to build 4 Leaky
Dams in Hawk Wood, helping lo capture rTK)re water in the Forest and ieduce flooding.
Our team of people with ￿arnIng disabilities, the Happy Loppers, undertook 36 sessions invofwng 18 people
nduding their support workers delivering 1,641 hours of voiunteer time, up from 1.520 hours in 2023124.

Epping Thicks and Loughlon Brook, removing dense stands of holly to open up the Forest floor to increase

The Cty of London C¢xwration Conservation Team have reported that our work along Lolrghton Brook is
supporbng theirwork to increase invertebrate populations on the adjolning Balo￿lnS Hill site.
All our conservation s￿$s0n8 seek to make habitat improvements lo wnprove spedes diversity in the Forest
88 well as cr8ating habrtat piks to promde refuge areas for repkn'les and amphibians.
Wo wlll protect and preserve the Fortst
The last yearwas challenging with a signifi¢2nt increase in pjanning activity as Epptng Forest Distr￿1 CounrAI
IEFDC) and Wallham Forest Borough Counryl IWFBC) developed and implemenle(l their Local Plans.
Alongside the large stxle 'masterpE8n° developments in the north of the Forest, there was ￿80 an increase in
smaller scale planning applications.
In addibon, the new Government introduced a number of changes to the planning system which affect the
Forest. in p8rtiraJlar the cxeation of a new category of land called 'grey beif designed lo fa¢ilTtate housi
development in the Green Belt. The Trust commented on the proposals and we remain very concemed over
their pokntial impact on the Forestwhith w8 wll continu8 to monitor.

Commented on tho suitabilty of sites sèl8cl8d by WFBC to be used as SUItab￿ Alt￿nst￿& Natural
Greenspaces ISANGS) to m￿gat& the impact on Ihe Forest of the large r￿W housing developments i)
the Borough.
Responded to EFDC'S South Epping Masterplan and the Epping TIMn Plan cx)n$ultstions. proposirvj
changes which will help to better protect the Forest based on its designalion as a Special Area of
Cons8Nation and SSSI.
In 8ddFlion. Ihe new Govemment introduced a number of changes lo the planning system which affect
the Forest. in parbojlar the creation of a new (3tsgory of land Called 'grey beif designed to facylilate
housirvJ development in the Green Belt and proposed changes to how damage caused by developments
is assessed and mitigated. The Tru51 commented on the 'grey beif proposals arKI we remain very
c¥Jncemed over the potential impact of these Changes on th¢ Forast which wo will ¢ontinue to monitor.
Responded lo 29 individual planning applic￿lOnS befv￿n April 2024 and Marth 2025 lup from 12
2023124), and a further 12 up to 28th August o)ntributing, as al the dale of this report, to the refusal of
14 applications (of which fve went to Appeal three of which Dismi￿￿ with two outstsndingl, while
we await the outcome of a further 16 applic*ions.

t)eeds to do more to satisfy Natur￿ England that pollution levels will continue lo reduce tsking irtto acojunt
future house bjilding plans in EFDC.
In liaison Epplng Foresl Transport Adion Group. and with the support of tsvo volunte8rs. we have
continued lo encourage Essex Highways to improve their road safety plan5 for the A104 Epping New Road
for the benefit of Forest visitors by reducAng the speed limÉi to 30mph, and introducAng dedicated ￿OSsIng
points between the east and wesl of the Forest.

EppiThJ Forest Centenary Trust to Epping Forest Herftsge Trust with effeci from 12th April 2018 and its

Forest (Charity No. 2999701. transfeTrad its assets to Epping Forest Heritage Trust and thereby

sessions for the Happy Loppers.
Conserve and wow
- The City Bridge Foundation. We were awarded a grant of £67,500 from the Cty Bridge Foundation over
the course of year twdrds new conservation activities in the south of the Forest desHJned to
increase the diversty of our conservation volunteers as well a$ increase the b￿l￿sty of the Forest
This grant started in June 2023, and have spent £34,250 of tI￿e restricted fiJnd$ in this financial
year.
- Bal￿ Thomas CharitaNe Trust {£5,000) and the D'oyty Carte Charitable Trust (£4,000) a￿rded us
grants tovrards woviding ￿￿SerVatiOn sessions for our tsam of conseN*ion v¢4unteers leaming
