AsPatronofeightChurchofEnglandlivings,theFoundationmakesregular
Foundation grantstotheparishesconcerned.Fundstotalling£16,000weredirectedtothe
eightparishesin2024/25.

livings,
aCompanymember
is
appointedascontactforeachparishandtheCharitiesCommitteereceivesa
reportfromoneoftheparishesateachmeeting.Theincumbentsareinvitedto
theCompany’sGoldenLectureeachyear,throughwhichtheFoundationaims
togivewell-qualifiedspeakerstheopportunityofaddressinganaudienceon
subjectsoftopicalinterestwitha Christiantheme.The2025Lecturewasheld
atHaberdashers’HallanddeliveredbytheChiefRabbi,SirEphraimMirvis.

ThemajorityofthefundsavailableintheFurtherandHigherEducation
Fundareusedtoprovideuniversityscholarshipsandbursariesforpupils
andformerpupilsofHaberdashers’schools.Nominationsaremadebythe
schoolsandaretenableoverthewholeofa student'suniversitycareer.In
manycasestheseawardsenablestudentswhomaynototherwisehave
consideredgoingtouniversitytodoso.Themajorityofawardeesreceive
£1,000perannumforthedurationoftheiruniversitycourse.In2024/25,18
newawardsweremadeduringtheyearata costof£60,000.
ThebeneficiariesoftheJestonDivinityScholarshipsarenominatedby
TrinityCollege,Cambridge,withthecurrentlevelofawardsbeing£1,500
foreach
undergraduate
scholarship
and
£1,500
perannum
for
the
postgraduatescholarship.
Thereiscurrentlya negativebalanceintherestrictedfund.Thishasarisen
becausethefundissupportinguniversitysciencescholarshipsforformer
pupilsofHaberdashers’Adams,awardswhichcoverfullEnglandand
Walesuniversitytuitionfees(currently£9,250perannum).
In2024/25the
grantsfortheseawardswere£83,250.TheTrusteesexpectthefundsfor
theseawardstobemetinthenearfuturebya substantiallegacy.The
legacyhasyettoberecognisedasincomingresourcesintheStatementof
FinancialActivitiesasthecriteriaforrecognitionhaveyettobemet.The

Charityexpectstoreceivethisincome,howeverthereremainsuncertainty
overtheprecisevalueandtimingofreceipts.Nonetheless,theTrustees
expectthatthepositionoftheFundwillbesubstantiallystrengthenedby
thislegacywhentheincomeisreceived.

Scholarshipstotalling£57,463wereawardedfromthefundin2024/25.
TheFundhasreceivedthebenefitofunsecured,interest-freeloansover
severalyearstotalling£50,000fromtheOldMonmothianClub,ofwhich
£40,000
has
been
subsequently
converted
into
donations
to
the
expendableendowmentfund.Theloanbalanceremainingwas£10,000at
31August2025.

Theobjectofthefund
istofurthertheeducationofpupilsattendingthe
Haberdashers’Schoolsbytheawardofprizesorothersuitablemarksof
distinction.Thecapitalofthefundcomprisesmoniesgivenovertheyears
bydonorsconnectedwiththeschools,oftennamingprizesinmemoryof
particularindividuals.
Aproportionateamountofthefundisheldforeach
schoolanddistributionsaremadeeachacademicyear.Thetotalamount
distributedin2024/25was£24,000(withthisincreaseduetothechangein
theaccountingreferencedate).

Theobjectofthefund
istoadvancetheeducationofthepupilsofthe
Haberdashers’Aske’sSchool
for
Girls,
Elstree,
with
apreference
for
assistingthemusicdepartmentorlibraryoftheSchool.
Fundstotalling
£7,000werepaidtotheschoolin2024/25.


SHEFwascreatedforthebenefitoftheHaberdashers’schoolsin1997and
joinedtheHaberdashers’EducationalFoundation
in2005.

and

Theobject
ofthefund
is
topromoteeducation
by
the
provision
of
Fund scholarships,grantsorawardstopersonsundertakinga courseoffurther
orhighereducation,ora whollyeducationalexpedition,outsidetheUnited
Kingdom,witha preferencetopupilsorformerpupilsoftheHaberdashers’
schools.
Awardsmayexceptionallybemade,uptoa definedlimit,for
inwardscholarshipsofthisnature,totheUnitedKingdombutinpractice
thesearerare.
Reportsarereceivedfrombeneficiariesontheirreturn,asa meansof
evaluatingwhethertheirobjectiveswerefulfilled.Awardstotalling£19,400
weremadein2024/25forpupilstravellingtoSriLanka,HongKong,Greece
andThailand.
