TheFoundationwascreatedin2002,withthepurposeofadvancingeducation.
Foundation TheFoundationinitiallyhadnineseparatecharitablefunds,withfurtherfunds

TheFoundationaimstohelpthemorevulnerableandmarginalisedmembers

ofsociety,
includingO-5-year-olds(foundationyears),youngpeoplewho

experiencedisadvantage,youngpeoplewithexperienceofthecustodysystem

andyoungpeoplewhoexperiencehomelessness.

Ingeneral,theFoundationsupportscharitieslocated
inthevicinityofour

SchoolsandChurchPatronages,aswellasintheCityofLondon.

TheFoundationhassupporteda widerangeofcharitiesduringtheyearand

endeavourstomaintaincloselinkswithcharitiestowhich
ithasgivenmore

substantialfundingorhasa longhistoryofsupport.

supportedtheMonmouthEnterpriseInitiative.

The
object
of
the
fund
is
to
promoteeducation
by
the
provision
of
scholarships,grantsorawardstopersonsundertakinga courseoffurther
orhighereducation,
with
apreference
forpupils
orex-pupils
ofthe
Haberdashers’Schoolsandpersonsundertakinga courseofdivinity.
Themajorityofthefundsavailable
intheFurther andHigherEducation
Fundareusedtoprovideuniversityscholarshipsandbursariesforpupils
andformerpupilsofHaberdashers’schools.Nominationsaremadebythe
schoolsandaretenableoverthewholeofa student’suniversitycareer.In
manycasestheseawardsenablestudentswho maynototherwisehave
consideredgoingtouniversitytodoso.Themajorityofawardeesreceive


£1,000perannumforthedurationoftheiruniversitycourse.In2023/24,18
newawardsweremadeduringtheyearata costof£58,000.
ThebeneficiariesoftheJestonDivinityScholarshipsarenominatedby
TrinityCollege,Cambridge,withthecurrentlevelofawardsbeing£1,000
foreach
undergraduate
scholarship
and
£1,000
perannum
for
the
postgraduatescholarship.
Inaddition,theFurtherandHigherEducationFundissupportinguniversity
sciencescholarshipsforformerpupilsofHaberdashers’Adams,awards
whichcoverfullEnglandandWalesuniversitytuitionfees(currently£9,250
perannum).
In2023/24thegrantsfortheseawardswere£111,000.The
Trusteesexpectthefundsfortheseawardstobemetinthenearfutureby
asubstantiallegacy.Thelegacyhasyettoberecognisedasincoming
resources
in
theStatement
ofFinancial
Activities
as
the
criteria
for
recognitionhaveyettobemet.TheCharityexpectstoreceivethisincome,
howeverthereremainsuncertaintyovertheprecisevalueandtimingof
receipts.Nonetheless,theTrusteesexpectthatthepositionoftheFundwill
besubstantiallystrengthenedbythislegacywhentheincomeisreceived.

College.A grantof£2,000wasmadetosupporttheworkofthe


musicdepartment.

GrantstoHaberdasherstate-maintainedschoolsforpupil-related


expenses(suchasschooltrips)orforprojectsofbenefitstopupils.

Scholarshipstotalling£49,746wereawardedfromthefundin2023/24.


TheFundhasreceivedthebenefitofunsecured,interest-freeloansover


severalyearstotalling£50,000fromtheOldMonmothianClub,ofwhich


£40,000
has
been
subsequently
converted
into
donations
to
the


expendableendowmentfund.Theloanbalanceremainingwas£10,000at


30June2024.

Haberdashers’Schoolsbytheawardofprizesorothersuitablemarksof


distinction.Thecapitalofthefundcomprisesmoniesgivenovertheyears

particularindividuals.
Aproportionateamountofthefundisheldforeach


schoolanddistributionsaremadeeachacademicyear.Thetotalamount

year,
SHEFawarded

grants
totalling
£20,000.
The
fund
supportedthecostsofguestspeakersinschoolsforHaberdashers’Knights
Academyandthecreationofa PrintStudioatHaberdashers’Borough
Academy.

is
topromoteeducation
by
the
provision
of
Fund scholarships,grantsorawardstopersonsundertakinga courseoffurther
orhighereducation,ora whollyeducationalexpedition,outsidetheUnited
Kingdom,witha preferencetopupilsorformerpupilsoftheHaberdashers’
schools.
Awardsmayexceptionallybemade,uptoa defined
limit,for
inwardscholarshipsofthisnature,totheUnitedKingdombutinpractice
thesearerare.

ameansof
evaluatingwhethertheirobjectiveswerefulfilled.Awardstotalling£17,000
weremadein2023/24forpupilstravellingtoKenya,Tanzania,Ugandaand
Europe.
