Charity Registration number 274768

Administration Address 24 Chiltern Street, Aylesbury HP21 8BT

Trustees

Christopher Dalladay Chairman

Jenny Ion Secretary

Pat Starr Treasurer

Moira Dlugosz Membership Secretary

The Constitution (as amended) was adopted by the Membership at the Annual Meeting on 19 September 2023.

Structure and Management

The choir is managed by the Trustees together with the Music Director and members of the choir who form the Executive Committee. All members of the Executive Committee retire at the end of the general meeting next after the date on which they came into office, but they may be re-elected or reappointed.

Trustees are recruited from the membership as required.

Activities and Objectives

The objects of the Society shall be to educate the public in the arts and sciences, and in particular the art and science of music; and in furtherance of this objective but not otherwise, to establish the rehearsal and performance of choral music.

The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

During the year the Society performed three concerts open to the public, for the benefit of the cultural life of the town and audience appreciation, as well as to the benefit of the Society’s members.

Financial Review

The attached accounts show that the finances of the Society are currently healthy. The reserves of £23,739 are sufficient to enable the Society to continue for at least 6 months regardless of income received. This complies with the reserves policy. The Trustees and Executive Committee continuously monitor choir and audience numbers with regard to the ability of the Society to continue as a going concern.

Volunteers

All members of the Society are regarded as volunteers who perform in and manage the concerts.

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Aylesbury Choral Society for the year ended 31 July 2024.

As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.

I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act

Independent Examiner’s Statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act: or

2 the accounts do not accord with these records: or

3 the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirements that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
