The charity is run en�rely by volunteers.

Day-to-day management is delegated to the Chair and Treasurer.
Objec�ves and Ac�vi�es

The charity’s objects are:

To ac�vely engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a posi�ve contribu�on to society.

To support the local community by carrying out volunteering, par�cipa�ng in local events and undertaking fundraising for our group.

To share our hall space with local groups and residents by hiring it on a regular basis.

To achieve these, the charity carried out the following ac�vi�es in the year:

Weekly scou�ng and guiding mee�ngs were held throughout the year.

Family Camp, Bingo Night and Fireworks Night events held.

Supported local events such as Wormley Big Local

Hiring of our halls to local groups
Public Beneft

The trustees confirm they have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

The Group provides young people with opportuni�es to develop skills for life through a balanced programme of ac�vi�es, including outdoor educa�on, adventure, teamwork, and leadership training. These ac�vi�es promote personal development and resilience, helping young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual poten�al.

The public benefit is demonstrated by:

Suppor�ng young people to become responsible ci�zens and ac�ve members of their communi�es.

Encouraging inclusivity, diversity and respect for others.

Providing affordable ac�vi�es that are open to all, regardless of background, ability or faith.

Developing transferable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.

The Group’s work not only benefits the young people directly involved but also their families, schools, and the wider community through community projects and volunteering.
Achievements and Performance

Over the year, the charity:

Supported over 100 young people through Scou�ng and Guiding ac�vity.
-
Raised £8,400 from dona�ons, grants, and fundraising.

Maintained the hall via odd job weekend and regular professional cleaning
-
Despite challenges including rising costs, retaining volunteers who balance home, paid work and volunteering, the charity con�nued to meet its objec�ves.
Financial Review

The charity’s total income for the year was £51,630.
-
Total expenditure was £45,937.
-
At year end, the charity held reserves of £59,279, which the trustees consider adequate for its needs.
-
The charity has liabili�es of £1,785.
-
Reserves policy: The trustees have considered the level of reserves appropriate for the Group, considering the risks to the charity, its future plans and its ongoing financial commitments.
-
It is the policy of the Group to hold reserves equivalent to at least three months of normal running costs to ensure con�nuity of Scou�ng in the event of a shor�all in income or unexpected expenditure. This currently represents approximately £7,500.

In addi�on, the Group may hold designated funds for specific planned projects, such as equipment replacement, major camp ac�vi�es or building maintenance.
-
The trustees review the reserves policy annually to ensure that it remains appropriate to the Group’s circumstances.
Plans for the Future

In the coming year, the trustees intend to:

Undertake essen�al building repairs and maintenance.

Con�nue to search for grants available to refurbish toilet areas.
-
Recruit and train new volunteers to ensure as many young people as possible get to enjoy Scou�ng and Guiding.

Con�nue to fundraise via events.
-
Review hall hire rates to ensure costs are covered whilst balancing the support of local groups.

st Independent Examiners Report to the Trustees of the I Wormley Scout Group I report to the trustee5 on my examination of the accounts of the 1st Wormley Scout Group for the year st ended 31 December 2024. Responsibilities and basls of report As the charity trustees of the 1st Wormley Scout Group you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the 1st Wormley Scout Group accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145{5){bl of the Act. Independent examlnerfs statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connectlon wlth the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: l. accounting records were not kept in respect of the 1st Wormley Scout Group as required by section 130 of the Act. or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities {Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
