The Secular Institute St. Borriface solely pursues charitable ecclesiastical aim5. It PTOmOtes charitable. social and
religiou5 work5 in particulaT dnd ex-CUSticular education, profes8iona] training, youth and adult EduBation. It collaErf)rates
worldwide within th¢ Catbolic Mission giving aid to the developing countries.
The Secular Institute Tnaintains one rental pmptrty for students. For the whole Ye￿ all expenditure and oll rental income is
payable 8ll]d receivable by the Seoular Instityte St. Btsniface.

Achievtments and performgDce
The English Region of the Secular Institute of St Boniface Tnaintains a hostel for young female students of different
th0n￿lties for an affordable rent. Currenily they come frorn Great Britain. Gem)any. DentnarL Japan. Laoka and
Turkey.
There are regul￿ tneetings in the hostel, the so-called "reflection group" A key focus is the project "Oppression and
re8lStance. Oppc>rlunities for a civil society in the past and presence We talk about v&lue5 like detnocracy, human rights,
climate protection, and the preservation of creation. Membus of the Secular Institute ty to help youllg wple 10 grow more
flllly in recognizing these values and in understanding their importance for our world. In addition to this, we tsffer
opportunities for spiritual guidance and accompaniment.
As nationalities mingle together in the h05tel. the young people have the chon¢e to exchange ideas about their different
cultura] backgrounds and to frotn each other.
One member of the Secular Institute. Barbard von Alten, was employed ￿ a Youth worker by the Gertnan YNICA. Her
employtnent ctased UL Jpnuary 2024.
In April 2024 Barbara went to Brdzil. She took a Sabbatical worked for a year as a volutiteer in a daycare cenier for
childTen from disadvantaged areas and families. The cenier. LaT Sao Judas Tadeu in Pinda]nonhangaba, State of sao Palllo,
IS Tun by Franciscan Brothers.
In Septetnb¢r 2025 she started tsachiAg &% a volunteer at Ealing Community School of English. ECSE provides En￿lSh
lessons, at all leve15. to adults in the Eding area and the wider community- Their aim is to help English language learner5
improve their English and integrdte better into th¢ir community.
ECSE is an entlTtly volunteer-run and led school. Refugees, asylum Seekers and peopl¢ not working attend th¢ school
