2021 Report on behalf of the trustees
2021 Was the second year of the Covid pandemic, and the impact of this can clearly be seen in the annual accounts. There was another strict lockdown during the first few months of the year, and then things gradually eased up so some activities could start to get closer to normal.
Hut fees were up from 2020, but still around half the pre-pandemic levels. The hut running costs have remained similar to 2020 but spending on the building is down, as the project has got nearer to completion. This is also reflected in lower general donations. The significant difference is the increase in grants from Mendip District Council, all of which relate to the pandemic and the effect it has had on small organisations in terms of lost revenue while still incurring similar (or even increased) costs.
