Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

The objects of the fund shall be the care and protection of German Shepherd Dogs that are in need of such by reason of sickness, maltreatment or poor circumstances, and the prevention of cruelty to and suffering amongst such animals.

The committee strives to help any German Shepherd in need that is brought to our attention. We often collect these dogs from homes, kennels, veterinary practices or bad situations and take them to a pre-arranged boarding kennel, for which we pay their boarding fee for the entire time they are in our care. If these dogs prove unsuitable for homing through health or temperament, we pay their boarding fees for the rest of their life. We fund raise to pay for their kennelling and veterinary fees. If a dog comes to us sick, or suffers ailments whilst in our care, we ensure they receive prompt veterinary treatment Summary of the main irrelevant of the cost. We do our best to rehabilitate dogs that activities undertaken for are brought to us with temperament issues. We will only rehome the public benefit in a dog once we know it is safe to do so. Sometimes rehabilitation relation to these objects can take months, but we do not let the length of time with us (include within this and the cost of kennelling cloud our judgement as to their section the statutory suitability for rehoming. declaration that trustees have had regard to the The Trustees’ are aware of the guidance of the Charity guidance issued by the Commission on public benefit and respond accordingly. Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Since GSD Welfare became a registered charity, we have homed in excess of 9,000 German Shepherd Dogs. We also have an increasing number of dogs in our care that are not fit for rehoming due to temperament & health. These dogs will remain in our care for the rest of their days being cared for and living a happy existence. For many of the dogs that have come into our care, there is no doubt that we were their last hope Without us, these dogs would have been euthanised. We have taken dogs into our care when owners could no longer afford veterinary fees for their ailments. Their only alternative would have been euthanasia. We have collected dogs from veterinarians, where their owners have taken them for euthanasia through health or temperament or sometimes just because they are no longer wanted. We do not discriminate. If a German Shepherd needs our help, we strive to provide that help, for as long as it is needed.
