the May 2023 meeting. It was agreed to approach Mr Ajan Wells lo take on th& role of treasurer and
report to to the Executlve Cornmitt88 but not be a momber of that commltte8. He agreed to thls. and
handover is currently in progress.

After discussion whh Prof. Stove Taylor and Mr Dave Johnson and mgeting with the Irusleès

The part-time lrfsh Exe¢ulNe Officer is Mr Hugh Martin. His prlmary locus is lo a) progress the
establlshment ol the UBM Flepubllc of Ireland TNSI (see later) and bl coordinate recruitment and

employed bask% and woulj be reswnsible for his own HMRC payments.
Two othw staff {Mrs Ulwyn Marshall and Mrs Marion Mayes) were employed on a part-lime basi8 to
help ¢arry out the adminlslralion lunGlion ol UBM. This amounts to approximately hall a full time
equivalent. Occasionally. there was a need lor them to earry out spectfic tasks which were carried out
accordSng to the luilough piowsions of the goveinmenl scheme.

The number ol team members in 2023 was 749, which was an increase from the 699 In 2022, and up
Irom the 358 who joined teams In 2021.

The Postal Bible Club IPBCI continues to otter free Bil￿8 correspondence courses to Ihose we havg
m8t through the work on thg beaches, and each month we sènd lesson to hundreds of Chiklren. It 1$
FAanned lo review the ell8Ctiveness ol thi$ side of our work and make changes thai lake into aceounl
the ever-changing needs of lomilies and irKlividuals we meet.
The lull impact of our evangelistic outreach is unknown. Ea¢h year we have emwL8 from peoplè who

have been helped through the worf( of UBM. Some of the stories go back many years. but we gel to
hoar them for the first Ilme.
Tralning •nd F•llowship
In Mar¢h a joint LeadershSp TranirKd event was run in o)njunction ￿1th Young Life, helj in the
Bromsgrove area. The eveni was designed to provide biblical tea¢hing on leadership lor oxperienced
team members. Our usual Leaders and Seniors, Day Ipreparalion loi going on rnissionl was held in th9
Nuneaton area in May. A lull UBM Reunion Conference, was attended by around 300 people In
September and hgld at the Cefn Lea Christian Conference Centre in Newtown, Wd6s. The leaching
was based around the theme ol being rgady to serve Jesus.
In mid-seplember ihose involved In Irlsh Beach Mi$sions me at Belfast Blbla College for leachlng and
fellowship across Ihg FrKlay evening and Saturday.
Revlew
In 2020, a review of the wholo work was initiated. Various lask groups were sel up lo assess thèir
speclllc areas ol the work. The rewgw highlighted key priorrties lor each area and these will be kept
visible lor each of the task groups. For each ol the areas, the main locus was lo restart misslons as
Cowd restrictions wgr9 eased. As reported above, this has been further built upon in the 2023 season.
More ol the key out wort<ings of the review will comg into effect durSng the 2024 season. The ExecutN8
Commtttee and each Manaoement Group will ensure that key Teview areas are part of their aggndas.

We provide inf0mia￿On to prayer sur4)orters ol our work on a regular basis. A monthly prayer letter

every month.
The tNslees remain vlgilanl to the growing requlremenls ol legislation on charrbes in the UK. One k9y
locus that has b68n highlighted in previous annual rapgrts is to progress the set-up ol a new ITish leg
ontty Isee n8xl sgdion}.
Rlsk assessmènts were published in new formats ready lor our summer 2023 aclMt*es. An in-depth
review has also bgen underway ol thè UBM Safeguarding Polky (previously Called the Child Prolectr)n
Policy) which should be finalised and published in the next Ilnanclal year.
Behind the scenes, work continugs to PTO9ress and Improv6 effl¢ioncy and pro￿89S. For exampkg,
8nhancemenls arg Conlinualty being worked on for our online administration sysl&m. The plan being
that there will provide resources and infomialion about UBM to existing aThJ new team members.

house in St Ives, Brookdale was vaiued at £640.01￿. Perthi¢ revakjalions will be applied, on a

We have never In the hlslory of the charty seen funds drop to zero. The trust90s consider that holding
%thal many of our supporters perceive to b8 large cash reserves do not encourage the tarth principle
that the charity wishes to promote. Nellher do large reserves stimulate glvlng to iha charty. Our policy

generously donated lo UBM during the 201912020 accounting period. SirKe then our account balance
[￿Ver went below thls £10,000 trigger. In fact, the minimum balance in the main account during
202212023 was c£74,500 and the maximum was c£120,5￿. The b￿ance at Ihg erKI of the financial
year was c£116,100.
In the linanciai year 2019-2020.11 was agreed that £21.000 of thls would b8 transferred to the new Irlsh
legal entity onc8 Ihis has been set up. As this process is taking longer than expèct￿1. lurlher
dlscwssion by the trustees occurred In 0￿0t￿r 2023. The key decisions warg al to confirm that the
amount that currendy existed In the Irk%h sterling account would be transferred lo the Irish legal entity
and bl there would be a carefully manag8d r8conclliaUon process lor all money transactions belween
th8 ￿ trusts with effect Irom 1st O¢iobgr 2023.
As usual we submitt9d ¢)ur Gill claim. Thls year the lolal was £12,553 and was r￿e1ved in 5
payments in January 2024.

Management ol the main UBM bank account is undertaken on-llne with Miss Tirzah Jones as the
primary user and Mr Davwj Johnson and Mr Timothy Hol￿ett as secondary users. This has greatly
alded the dègree of finanual oversight exercisecl by th8 Injslees arKI th8 smooth op¢ralion of the
