Southmead Hospital League of Friends April 2023 A14NUAL REPORT. No. 43 Dear Friend5, It is my pleasure to present Southmead Hospital League of Friends annual report. At last. after 3 years. we are hopin8 that ¥ can safely meet up again. The Covid pandemic was something that we all had never experienced before, but now that life is retuming to how it used to be the Trustees. with the agreement from the Tnjst, feel that it would be safe to hold a face-to-face meeting. A5 you w imagine during the time the coffee shop was closed the League lost a lot of income. Once it reopened after havin8 health risk assessments on the volunteers, an extended counter, the erection of protective Perspex panels, masks and a <)ne-way system the news soon Spread and business has increased steadily since. During the closure the Trustees continued to meet every 6 weeks by zoomlteams. A new lease for the coffee shop area has had to be a8reed, we are waiting for the final draft. A document was produced by the Trust, Memorandum of Understandin& Y4hith details the Trusts and LOF commitments to volunteers and relevant procedures. The Trustees have c<tinUed to be able to accept applkatlons for funding of equipment. and after consideration have been able to approve the funding. The committee would wekome new members with fresh ideas, and. would ask you to consider putting your name foTward and iotnin8 us every 6 weeks With regards to the rnembership. durin8 the break we10st 9 volunteers for varityjs reasons, but l am pleased to say we have 8 new volunteer& As yet we are not open in the evenings or weekends. for this we would need more people to c(xne forward. Earlier in the year the Trust held a volunteers celebration afternoon tea at the Bristol Hotel, several of the leagueg volunteers received certificates for 5.10. 15. 20 yearg setvice with Sandra receiving flowers and a certificate for 25 years. I gvie my thank5 to Kathryn Tudor (NBT) for her support. Sandra. Michael (treasurer) the trustees, and the volunteers. Without you all the Lea8ue would not continue. I hope to see as many of you as possible on June 7th Best wishes Mike Lon& Chair
