Dear Members
Welcome Ladies to our 2022 Conference the first since 2019. It has been a difficult two years for everyone including our Association and I hope you and yours have come through safely.
We kept in touch by sending regular newsletters to Clubs/Associations and requested them to forward them on to members.
The F&GP committee held regular zoom meetings, which for me were fraught with difficulty.
Yes, we have lost some Clubs/Associations but are hopeful for better times ahead.
Just before this report was going to print, we heard the news that our beloved Queen had passed away. Queen Elizabeth II was an amazing lady and she has been part of our lives as Queen for over 70 years. In June the Nation celebrated her Platinum Jubilee and we managed to have a Jubilee lunch in the West Midlands. We will be sending a letter of condolence on your behalf to our new King and a copy of this will appear in the next news & Views.
Our thoughts go out to our new monarch, King Charles III and The Queen Consort and to all the Royal Family at this time.
The year ahead may present some challenges but with a positive forward approach these will be overcome by us all working as one to make our Association stronger than ever.
All that remains is for me to wish you a Happy Conference.
Chris

MEMBERSHIP
Due to the Covid pandemic and the fact that all our Clubs closed for the majority of 2020 it has not been possible to give an accurate number of members until now. We lost some 733 members in 23 Clubs and 2 Associations during the pandemic. Another Association and Club may be closing after their AGM’s in October. At present we have 1605 fully paid up members
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee is the governing body of NAWC on which every local Association has an elected representative and the Single Clubs have four appointed representatives. Due to the Coronovirus the meeting of the Executive Committee which usually met in May each year was cancelled although we had a Zoom which was useful for those who could attend in July 2021.

FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE
The Committee act as Trustees to the Association and met regularly during the past two years to examine the income and expenditure of NAWC together with estimates for the future. Meetings in 2020/21 were held via ZOOM and were very productive. In February 2021 it was obvious that Clubs would not be returning until at least September, if then, and having therefore been closed for over a year it was decided that members would be given the year 2020-2021 FREE OF MEMBERSHIP FEES. Therefore those Clubs who had been able to collect and pay would have their membership fees carried forward to cover the year 2021-22 membership.
CHAIRMAN Chris Burton
HON TREASURER Mary Bird

REPORT ON THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN’S CLUBS
PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES FOR 2021/2022
WORKSHOPS AIMS: TO STIMULATE INTEREST AND IDEAS AND TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF CLUB ACTIVITIES.
No workshops were held
DONATIONS RECEIVED, APRIL 2021 – MARCH 2022
Due to the closure of our Clubs this year it has not been possible for Clubs to raise funds for the National Association which they normally do for us.
MESSAGE to our MEMBERS :
Secretaries and Club Committees have been in contact during the year and have organised meetings in parks and open air venues. They have telephoned and kept in contact with those who live alone and from the phone calls and information we have received they are all looking forward to returning to their Clubs when it is allowed and safe to do so.
We thank all those who have sent messages to Head Office via email or letter. As you know our offices were closed in late March 2020 but both Pauline and Jackie have now returned from furlough. Claire has been working from home, and she has done a sterling job to help keep our Association going.
19
As you may or may not know Eleanor Breen retired in 2020 and we could not because of the pandemic hold any presentation ceremony at the Annual Conference as it had to be cancelled and therefore she retired without applause. Hopefully she will be attending the Conference in September and we will be able to give her a much belated farewell from her many friends and colleagues.
Regular ZOOM meetings were held by the Committee and our first meeting was held in the office in August 2022. It was nice to get back to a sort of normality.
