These objects are achieved by;

Dear Members
Well, what a start to our 85th celebratory year, with COVID-19, then the lockdown, I hope you have all managed to stay safe and well and that you have all had the first vaccine and possibly the second. We do know that we have lost some members to this terrible disease and our condolences go to the families and their clubs. No-one in living memory had been in this situation before and it really was a step into the unknown. Our office was closed by the landlords and our staff were put on furlough with the exception of Claire who kept the administration of the Association going whilst working from home.
With lockdown in 'situ', we had to postpone all our celebrations including conference. We were very lucky that we were able to transfer any deposits paid over to 2021 and in fact they have had to be moved again to 2022!
The F&GP committee have been meeting via What's App and Zoom every few weeks and we have also been keeping in touch with clubs via the Website, Facebook and our newsletter, which I hope you have received and enjoyed. Technology has certainly come into its own these last few months. With the vaccine now in place we can look forwarded to returning to 'club' when it is safe, hopefully by September this year we may be back to some sort of normality. It was also decided to void the subscriptions for last year and to transfer the fees to this coming year 2021/2022 we felt it was the least we could do.
We have now started to re-book some of our events in 2022. Conference will now be held in May 2022 at the Mercure Hotel in Northampton together with the various lunches and teas throughout the year. This year (2021) we are also trying to hold our weekend away in October in Norwich and our Christmas concerts in December, it would be lovely to see as many of you as possible at these events.
Perhaps we could all start by holding coffee mornings/afternoon tea or just a get together in our home or garden and as clubs, local Associations and of course NAWC we can look forward to some of our postponed celebrations.
As the staff were on furlough, Mary has been keeping us on the straight and narrow as far as our finances go so I would personally like to thank her, Claire, and all of the committee for their continued hard work and support, not forgetting our Area Rep Janice Bayliss, and of course Pat Blair our Promotional and Information Officer and I would like to thank all of those in clubs that have kept in touch with each other and have been instrumental in getting the newsletter to their members.
Finally, a very big thank you to all of you for your loyalty to the Association.
Chris

MEMBERSHIP
Due to the Covid pandemic and the fact that all our Clubs closed for the majority of 2020 it is not possible to give an accurate number of members. Some Clubs were able to collect their annual fees but many were not. Those who did are thanked for their efforts and their 2020/21 membership payments were carried over to the year 2021/22. Members numbers will be announced in the next Annual Report and at Conference in May 2022.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee is the governing body of NAWC on which every local Association has an elected representative and the Single Clubs have four appointed representatives. Due to the Coronovirus the meeting of the Executive Committee which usually met in May each year was cancelled.

FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE
The Committee act as Trustees to the Association and meet regularly during the year to examine the income and expenditure of NAWC together with estimates for the future. Meetings in 2020 were held via ZOOM and were very productive. In February 2021 it was obvious that Clubs would not be returning until at least September, if then, and having therefore been closed for over a year it was decided that members would be given the year 2020-2021 FREE OF MEMBERSHIP FEES. Therefore those Clubs who had been able to collect and pay would have their membership fees carried forward to cover the year 2021-22 membership.

INSURANCE SCHEME
All clubs were covered by the insurance whilst closed. The majority of the clubs were able to pay the required fee at the right time but some paid later but were still covered should they have required it.

REPORT ON THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN’S CLUBS
PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES FOR 2020/2021
WORKSH0PS AIMS: TO STIMULATE INTEREST AND IDEAS AND TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF CLUB ACTIVITIES.
ALL WORKSHOPS CANCELLED
DONATIONS RECEIVED, APRIL 2020 – MARCH 2021
Due to the closure of our Clubs this year it has not been possible for Clubs to raise funds for the National Association which they normally do for us. We did however receive £608 from Great Amwell/Offerton/Mrs C Burton/Mrs Ann McCrimmon/Mrs Mary Bird and a Donation in Memory of Mrs Tindall (made by her son) and thank them for this.
MESSAGE to our MEMBERS :
Secretaries and Club Committees have been in contact during the year and have organised Christmas and Easter Cards and gifts for delivery to their members. They have telephoned and kept in contact with those who live alone and from the phone calls and information we have received they are all looking forward to returning to their Clubs when it is allowed and safe to do so.
We thank all those who have sent messages to Head Office via email or letter. As you know our offices were closed in late March 2020 and since then Pauline and Jackie have been on furlough and Claire has been working from home. She has done a sterling job to help keep our Association going.
Our devoted NAWC office colleague Eleanor Breen retired at the end of September 2020 and is now enjoying a well-deserved rest. We had hoped to hold a small presentation ceremony at the Annual Conference but as it had to be cancelled she retired without applause. Hopefully we will be able to persuade her to attend our next Conference to give her a much belated farewell from her many friends and colleagues.
18
Regular What’s App meetings were being held by the Committee when someone mentioned the word ZOOM. Since then we have visited each other’s living rooms/offices/kitchens etc at least once a month discussing what we can do to bring the Association back to life in 2021/22. Where possible replacement dates will be found for lunches/Weekends Away and Conference. So watch this space!
