The objectivesof the charityare to providefacilitiesfor recreation,or otherleisuretime occupation,by the public. The
principalactivitiesarethemanagementandrunningofWestWightSportsandCommunityCentre,Freshwater,Isle of
Wight for the benefit of clubs and the public.

To this end the aims and objectives of the charity for the year were to:

- `Continue to provide a range of sports, including swimming to the community and to increase participation.` 

- `Increase the opportunities for the achievement of excellence in sport.` 

- `Develop further links within the community, encouraging and supporting healthy lifestyles.` 

- `Working in partnership with other agencies to provide support and information to the local community.` 

- `Assess the environmental impact of our business and continue to strive to reduce it.`

## **`ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE`** 

## **`Review of activities`**

The year ending 31 March 2025 has been a good one for West Wight Sports & CommunityCentre. Our gross turnover is
now £1.26 million, membership has increased to almost 1,000 members and participation rates have never been higher.
```

On behalfof theBoardof Trustees,I wouldliketo thankClareGriffin,theCentreManager,JasonFennimore, Shannon
Kilcullenand the whole team for their hard work and commitment,which has made WWSCC such an importantasset to
thecommunityintheWestWight.Wearehereforeveryoneandithasbeengreattoseesuchabroadspectrum of
society using our facilities every day of the week.

TheteamhasbeenstrengthenedbytheappointmentofaHealth&SafetyManager(MichellePitman)todevelop our
safety culture and a Business Transformation Lead (Nikki Meeking) to drive our change and efficiency initiatives.
```

I would also like to highlightthe work of Adam Tucker, our CommunityConnector,who is often the first point of  contact
for many in need. He fulfils multiple roles, supporting vulnerable people and helping them access support services.
```

Below are some of the highlights from the year to show the range of our activities:

- The number of people playingpickleballcontinuesto grow and grow. We employeda dedicatedcoach (Kay Montagu),
held group coaching sessions and hosted a Pickleball Festival
```

-TheSolentSwiminSeptemberraised£27,000with51swimmers.Manythankstothe30kayakers,boat crews,
FreshwaterLifeboat,NeedlesCoastwatch,themanyvolunteersandCaptain'sCabinformakingitallpossible. This
remains our biggest, single fund-raising event

Thanksalso go to YarmouthHarbourCommissionersand Hampshire& IOW CommunityFund for their grantsrelated to
pickleballandyouthboxing.WereceivedmoneyfromTescoGroundworksforachildren'sgardeningprojectand one
generous individual donated £27,500.

Thankstoprudentmanagementandaclosecontroloncosts,theCentremanagedtoproduceamodest operating
surplus.

TherehavebeenafewchangesintheBoardofTrustees.ItookoverasChairinOctober2024fromGillKennett, who
served13yearsinthatrole!ThankfullyshehasagreedtocontinueservingasaTrustee.AnnFreemanhastaken over
fromMarkWebberasViceChair,thoughhetooremainsontheBoard.WewerejoinedbyAlanDowie(attheend of
March2024)andChloeSearl(July2024).WesaidgoodbyetoGeorgeCameronandPaddyNoctorwhostepped down
duetoothercommitments.GeorgeThomsonhasalsoresignedbutwillremainourHonoraryPresident.Michael Coyle
andJohnHowehavesubsequentlylefttheBoardofTrusteesinthiscurrentFinancialYear,butwehopetomake an
announcement on new Trustees shortly.

As to the future,we do have a few challengesfor the comingyear(2025-6).Increasesin Employers'National Insurance
Contributionand the Minimum Wage have raised our costs significantly.Consequently,we have been forced to raise our
prices whilst simultaneously trying to maintain our policy of 'affordability' and access for as many users as possible.
```

Finally,athankyoutoallourvolunteers,donors,helpers,supporters,members,customers,visitors,trustees and
advocates who help make West Wight Sports & Community Centre what it is today.
```

financialsafetynet for any unexpectedrequirementsand to providefor the potentialand occasionallysubstantial costs
required in maintaining the centre.

Reservesheldattheyearendhaveimprovedandarebackuptoalevelwheretheycoverapproximatelysix months
operatingcostsforthecentre.Thetrusteesfeelitisprudenttoaimtoincreasereservestocoverapproximately nine
months operating expenditure.

IncludedwithinreservesisaRepairsContingencyfundof£150,000attheyearend.Thesearefundsthatare available
for generalspendingpurposes,butwhichthe trusteesfeel it is prudentto set to coverthe potentiallysubstantial costs
ofunplannedrepairsandreplacementtopoolandotherequipmentnotcoveredbytheannualrolling maintenance
programme. During the year pool equipment costing over £60,000 had to be replaced, the costs of this are being  written
off in the accountsover ten years, but the cash expenditurefor these costs had to be paid from free reserves in full this
year.
```

## **`FUTURE PLANS`**

Weneedtoensurethatourfacilitiescanmeettheever-increasingdemandandwearethereforelookingatmeans to
providemorecapacity.We shallbeinvestinginnewsoftwaretoenableevenmorechildrentohaveswimming lessons
overalongerperiod.Thepool,whichisattheheartofwhatwedowillsoonbecelebratingits50thbirthday. Our
assumptionis that it won't celebrate its 100th, so between now and then we need to ensure we can continueto  provide
the amenity which is essential to all in the West Wight. Planning for that is already underway.
```

amount of the guarantee. No member held any interest in the company during the two years prior to 31 March 2025.

## **`Recruitment and appointment of new trustees`**

after which they are eligible to stand for re-election.A third of the Trustees stand down at each Annual General  Meeting

prior to nominationbeing proposed at the annual general meeting. Subject to such proposal receiving the full support of
