**Objects:** THE PROMOTION OF CHINESE STUDIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, IN PARTICULAR BY ENCOURAGING TEACHING AND RESEARCH, BY DISSEMINATING INFORMATION, HOLDING AN ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING, ORGANISING CONFERENCES, SEMINARS AND OTHER APPRORIATE ACTIVITIES.

**Activities:** Promotes the interests and priorities of Chinese studies in the UK at all levels; offers advice and support for people and institutions involved in the study of China incl. universities, schools, museums etc.; liaises with Area Studies organisations, government, funding bodies incl. HEFCE, AHRC &amp; EHRC, business organisations; organises an Annual Conference (Sept) and publishes annual Bulletin.
