Strategies to achieve the year's objectives In order to impTove reading and spelling in Early Yeajs and Pre-Prep, all staff reiVed relevant tiaining in new reading scheme before implemeJ)latioffj parents received training in the forni of workshops and support from teachers as the heme was implemented and all staff were able lo familiarise themselves with specific resources related to the new scheme. In order to itnplem¢nt the new assessment system across the h0o[ and use the system to drive the &ssessment profile. new materia]s w¢tE filed, the &55essments were run a1 th¢ impactleffectiveness of data w&s reviewed. To maintain healthy pupil numbers across the h0O1. following the removal of the VAT exemplion for education provided by private school from Isi January 2025, the Sch1 sought to maintain excellent communication with paTents regarding any ¢on¢erns and applied a discount to fees in respect of the Spring and Summer tern)s. The school continued to host open mornings as well as conducting individual tou and maintained good social media presence. Our ethos The Daiglen School is a charitable trust which seeks to benefit the public through the pursuit of its stated aims. Our fees are set at a level to achieve those aims and ensure the financial viability of the school. The school welcomes applications fro atl pupils regaMle5s of rdce. religion sex and disabilities. Prospeciive parents of Nursery ehildren are invited to bring their child to rneet the Nursery staff during th¢ tern) before they are due to start atthe schoDI at which time new pupils will spend a short while in the Nuery class. Pupils joining the s¢hool in the Reception class are invited to join their teacher aTrJ the class for settling in session. Enty higher up th¢ S¢hool is subject to an as5essm¢nt visit day. The school provides parents with regular inforTnation about their children's s(Kia] acad¢mic prwess. Inforn)ation is provided at parents, evenings and in end-of-ternj reports. The year-end rewrts provide greater depth in respect of a child's social and acadetnic progress. During the school year. inforniai contact is maintained with parents. The sclN)ol holds an annual Speech night in whi¢h scholastic and ¢(CUrrIculuM achievements are celebrated with awards. The sch(x)l is eommitted to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expects all staff and Governors to share in this commitment. The Bursary fund offers means-tested bursaries, within certain limits, to children whose families require financial assistance. The school is an inclusive community that encourages applications from pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. Candidates for a bursary will be expected to sit an interna] assessment lestto demonstrats their ability to contribute to aThl thrive in the school's educational environmeni, and io benefit from the education that the school provides. Parents of children who are already at the school may apply for a bursary if there is significant change in their circumstances which could not Teasonably have been foTeseen at the time of enlry into the school. In such cases, bursaries would not nornialty be approved until the pupil has completed two academi¢ years at the school. The principal source of income is school fees accounting for 990/0 of the school's income. The Governors are continuing their strategy of deploying net incoming resources to investing in edueational purposes and in the fabric of the school. As an educational charity, we were. until l November 2024. unable to claim VAT input ta on our costs as we were exernpt for VAT purposes.
