## ANNUAL REPORT Year ending March 2021 **Chipping Barnet Seniors Day Centre (CBSDC) - (Charity Reg No: 272847)** Preventing loneliness and social isolation of vulnerable older people across the Borough of Chipping Barnet. ## **ROLE AND AIMS** Our main aims are: - Prevention of loneliness and Social Isolation - Health, Wellbeing and Social Care - Advise and Information CBSDC is held twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays in the Open Door Centre, Barnet and currently welcomes 25 members. It is open from 9.30am to 3.00pm. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** Our objective is to provide a club like atmosphere where elderly housebound people can enjoy a day out in a safe, friendly, relaxed and cheerful environment where they can meet and make friends, be entertained and provided with a hot two course lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Additionally the centre provides respite for those who daily commit their lives to the care of aged loved ones. ## **MANAGEMENT OF THE DAY CENTRE** As at the end of March 2021 the Day centre had been closed for a whole year, during the whole of the closure, support was given to all of the members in the form of phone calls, shopping, advise and support with meal delivery as required provided by the Open Door Centre. The Day Centre reopened to it members for one day a week (Mondays) on the 21[st] June 2021 And fully reopened two days a week on the September 2021. The centre currently has 20 members and 8 on the waiting list, it is anticipated that the full membership of 25 will be in place by the end of 2021. Registered Charity - 272847 1 On reopening the Centre is run by one paid organiser and 23 volunteers. Activities held are as below - - Escorted Transport is provided where necessary - Exercise classes are held - Refreshments are provided in the morning and afternoon - A 2 course hot meal is provided - Board games and Bingo are played in the afternoons - Information and advice is available and regularly given - Musical entertainment is enjoyed - Intergenerational activities are to be recommenced with a local pre school group, when it is considered appropriate to do so. - Outings are arranged to the local Garden Centre and also the Seaside. - A Christmas and Summer Event are held with entertainment. No outings or Christmas events took place in the year to March 2021. The AGM was not held during 2020-2021, due to the Government restrictions in place , however updates with regards to changes in name and officers/Trustees were provided to the Charity Commission in a timely manner. Angela Dickinson resigned as Honorary Secretary on the 10[th] August 2020. Amanda Skitt was duly elected as Honorary Secretary from that date. Registered Charity - 272847 2 The AGM for 2021, was delayed until such time as it was deemed safe, following Government guidelines, and this took place on the 27[th] September 2021. Minutes of the last AGM held in July 2019 were approved and Audited accounts for the year to March 2021 were presented and also approved.
