As an executive committee we have met three times virtually since the last AGM in order to identify action and activity of developing the troop and ensuring HQ is a suitable environment for the boys and girls to learn and have fun in.
I think this last year has challenged everyone, but the leaders and young leaders have been consistent and amazing in providing a programme during this time.

Maintenance & Equipment
The group have continued a range of maintenance across the premises to ensure we maximise life expectancy of HQ and make the surroundings a more safe and pleasurable environment; especially in the winter.
David Grace has led the HQ refreshment and has been outstanding.
We have repaired/replaced some of the structural sections of the building along with replacing the windows and recladding the hut. We have also removed and replaced the seating/storage as well as the lower section of the walls in the main hall.
We are still working on the leaking roof and hopefully this will soon be fully fixed. We are also keen to repaint the inside of the hut and are considering how best to do this.

Looking forward into 2021/22
We look forward a return to normal Scout activities during the next year. We must maintain the troop numbers and to do this the activities have to keep our young people enthused with what The Scout Association is recognised for; fun, adventure and skills for life.
In order to continue providing such varied activities we will continue to invest in the maintenance and refurbishment of the HQ.
2021/22 Key Priorities

Summary
We are extremely lucky to have the dedicated leaders over the last 12 months as they have been amazing, and I am sure we are all thankful for the excellent and varied programme delivered during the Covid period.
Our leaders continue to give up their time to support the young people of Ham Green, Pill, E-I-G and further afield to Portbury and Portishead. Without them the success of 1[st] Crockerne Scout Group would not be possible.
I would also like to thank the other members of the Executive Committee who give up their time to plan, prioritise and action the vision we have for the Troop and its continued success.
A special thank you is needed for David Grace who has worked tirelessly to undertake the refreshment works on the HQ and has spent many hours working with contractors updating and fixing the building. He has also been able to gain Covid relief funds from North Somerset Council that have enabled us to undertake these works.
We also received an anonymous contribution via the County for refurbishment works as well as funding from Gordano District Scouts. All this financial help along with hard work will mean our building is safer and smarter for all of us.
We need more parents, carers or guardians to help with the management and leadership of our group so should you be able to support the committee we would be pleased to welcome you to our meetings as new ideas are always greatly appreciated and will help the 1[st] Crockerne Scouts.
Ben Cook – On behalf of the Executive Committee

Group Scout Leader Report – 2020/2021
This must be the strangest Scouting year ever, zoom meetings, face to face, back to zoom, camping at home, walk to the moon and everything else we have taken part in. Despite all of the restrictions Scouting has continued as you will see from the section reports. The fact that we have been able to continue is mainly down to the Leaders and how quickly they adapted to the situation. WELL DONE everyone, you have done a brilliant job over the past year and continue to adapt to an ever changing situation.
Not everyone was comfortable with zoom and there were a number of children who didn’t take part, some joined in in other ways and most returned when we came back face to face. There have been the usual movings up and movings on and some new children starting but our sections are smaller while the restrictions are still in place. There are a number of children on the waiting list for Cubs and Beavers and as soon as we are able we will be offering them places.
Sarah Halstead has joined the leader team after moving into the village from Bristol. Sarah is working with the Cubs. Welcome to 1[st] Crockerne Sarah. Our Young Leaders are fantastic, Amelia, Grace and George have been joined by Alex and all of them make a great contribution to the Group. THANK YOU, YOUNG LEADERS. Leader & Young Leader training has continued and a lot has been completed by our Section Assistants. Our YL’s have met with others in the District for training and Leaders have been accessing training online.
All sections are running excellent programmes, with a lot of outdoor content, doing all of the things they couldn’t do on zoom.. There have been a lot of Challenge and Activity badges awarded and a number of Chief Scout Awards which I know had the extra challenge of having to finish them during lockdown.
As restrictions are lifted we will be able to return to more normal meetings, visits and camps. So let’s look forward to the rest of the year and into next year.
Many thanks to our Exec Committee for their work throughout the year. Special thanks to David who put in many hours organising the refurbishment of the HQ. Special thanks also to Ben who has been part of the Exec for a number of years and for the last couple of years has been our Chairman, thank you for your contribution, it has been invaluable.
Scouts AGM Report 2020/21
This year has been a year of Zoom, we’ve camped at home and hiked and cooked, did craft and wink murder (lots of wink murder) and escape rooms and Among Us,
Zoom however gave us the opportunity to cover lots of learning, navigations skills, countryside code, communications skills, codes, cooking hygiene, the environment and international festivals. But it’s not been all online this year, we got back to face to face as soon as we could in the autumn, with an emphasis on outdoor activities. With the Portishead art trail and wide games in the dark,
After Christmas we were forced back online and continued with online monopoly runs, Kahoot, the Chef badge and lots more Among us.
1[st] Crockerne Scout Group
Once we could meet face to face once again, we started with a back together BBQ, a night hike and Canoeing.-
A great many of the Scouts worked hard on their own, completing their Challenge badges and have achieved 52 badges, across the Adventure, Creative Expedition Outdoors, Personal, Skills Teamwork and Team Leader challenges, Chef, International, Navigator, Nights away activity badges and joining-in awards. They also took part in the Great Indoor – Weekender,
Camp at Home and the Crockerne HomeJam. Two Scouts Joseph Welsh and Alex Sharpe completed their Chief Scout Gold awards, the top Scout award, before moving on to Explorers,
Joseph and our young leaders George and Grace trained regularly for 35 mile Ten Tors this year, and despite the Army cancelling the event, they all completed the Gordano alternative event on the Mendips. Amelia completed the Ten Tors 45 on the Bath round.
I’d like to thank Jason for his tireless enthusiasm this year, both online and face to face and to Grace and Amelia, for their badge delivery service during lock-down.,
Yours in Scouting Stephen Jappy, Scout Leader, 1[st] Crockerne Scout Group.
Cubs AGM Report 2021
Well this year has been another interesting year; firstly I would thank the leaders for their attitude and embracement of our Zoom meetings and then returning to meeting face to face with an extremely excited Cub Pack. We should all feel very proud of what everyone has achieved. Another huge bonus for our Cub Pack is that Sarah Halstead joined our leader team in September and has quickly become a valued member of our Pack. We are thankful for the continued support our Young Leaders George and Grace provide and to our Section Assistant Stefano, also to the regular parent helpers who often help when we meet away from the Scout Hut.
With Zoom dominating a most of our meetings over the last year the Cub Pack have enjoyed lots of alternative activities including our most favourite zoom game Wink Murder!
Some of the highlights of our zoom meetings were: a drumming workshop run by a young leader in Portishead; Zoom Minecraft Yoga (which Akela and myself found very amusing while joining in); a very interesting show and tell meeting for Cubs Collectors badge Activity; Sarah’s Jungle Book extravaganza (where the leaders dressed up as their Jungle book Character’s); Microwave mug cake cooking; Lego Island Challenge and completing the Cubs Scientist Activity Badge.
With the return of meetings outside being allowed again we managed to squeeze a few activities in before lockdown happened again. Road Safety walk in Pill 05/10/20, Portishead Arts Trail 12/10/20 and some fun dark games 02/11/20.
Amelia Jappy ran two meetings one zoom 15/03 and one outside the scout hut cooking Quesadillas 29/03 which completed Cubs International Activity Badge.
Over the last year our Cub pack have earned (including some still to be awarded): 21 Cubs Activity Badges. 29 Cubs Challenge Badges. 27 Staged Activity Badges
Camping at Home continued with the Great Indoor weekender in September 2020 with 8 Cubs participating.
Massive congratulations to Jack Vailes who achieved his Chief Scout Silver Award in January 2021. Five of our Cubs have moved up to Scouts this year and we have had the pleasure of six Beavers moving up to join us.
1[st] Crockerne Scout Group
We have a steady number of Cubs attending our meetings now we are back at the Scout Hut and are looking forward to hopefully spending a day at Glenny Wood to enjoy some adventurous activities soon. 1[st] Crockerne Cub Pack

Kind Regards, Alison Lawrence, Assistant Cub Leader, 1[st] Crockerne Scout Group.
Beavers AGM Report June 2021
Another year full of Covid restrictions has meant another year filled with Zoom sessions, only being able to meet in person when restrictions have allowed.
Zoom meetings are a far cry from what a Beaver session usually involves, and we could not be prouder of how our little group of Beavers adapted and coped with the change to online, logging in every week full of their usual zest and energy.
Through our Zoom meetings we completed a wide range of activities including Origami, knot tying, biscuit decorating, pioneering and the favourite activity of all - Treasure Hunts! Beavers also had the opportunity to take part in some Group-wide activities at home including camping at home with the Great Indoor Weekender, and taking part in the nationally organised RSPB Birdwatch.
When face to face meetings returned it was lovely to see our Colony back together. We have enjoyed team games, an incredibly wet but fun water games week, and each Beaver has painted a pebble which they have placed along the Village Viper community project.
We have awarded forty-six badges in total since September, including seven Challenge Badges, nineteen Activity Badges, three Staged Activity Badges and the badges awarded for the camping at home activities.
Massive congratulations to Ben and Zac Chambers on completing their Chief Scout Bronze Awards before moving on to Cubs in May – this is not an easy Award to achieve, and especially impressive given the restrictions over the last eighteen months.
We have had five Beavers move up to Cubs this year, and welcomed eight new Beavers to join us.
Thanks go to the enthusiasm and support offered by our Young Leader, Amelia, who goes to endless lengths to help us provide fun activities for our Beavers each week, she really does go above and beyond.
Amelia is joined this year by our new Young Leader, Alex, who has already settled into his role well, and we are looking forward to continuing to work with him as part of our Leadership team.
Lisa Poerschke, our Section Assistant, has moved on from us now that her children have moved up to Cubs - huge thanks to her for all her hard work, we will really miss you!! Elena Bryant now joins us as Section Assistant, and has already proved invaluable. Louise continues as Section Leader, tirelessly ensuring everything is in place for our weekly meetings, whether online or in person. It has not been an easy year to negotiate, and I thank
her massively for her ever sunny approach to all things Beavers. Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents for their support, patience and encouragement
1[st] Crockerne Scout Group
over this year.
Here is hoping that 2021/22 proves to be a much more ‘normal’ year for Beavers and that we may even be able to return to group Camping next summer! Caroline Blakeney Assistant Section Leader, 1st Crockerne Scout Group
