Risk and Internal Control {Specimen 1)
The Group Executive Committee has identified the major risks to
whth they beI￿ve the Group is expos&Y, these have been
reviewed and systems have been eslablished to milwJate against
them. The main areas of concern that have been hdenlrfied are..
Damage to the building, property and equipment. The Group
uld request the use of buiklings. property and eqyipment from
neyhbouring organisatKJns such as the church, community
centre and other Scout Gri)ups. Similar reciprocal arrangements
exist wth these oryanisations. The Group has suffi¢iont buildings
and contents Insuran￿ in place to mibgate against perrnanenl
Injury to leadets. helper5. supporte￿ and member5. The Group
through the czpitation fees contn"butes to the Scout Associations
national aecident Insuran￿ pjlicy. Risk Assessments are
undertaken before all actwitw.
Reduced income from hut rentals. The Group is primarily reliant
UFon ino)me from subsulptions and third paty scout hut rentsls.
The group does hold a reserve to ensure the continuity of
actiwties should there be a major reduction in income. The
coMm￿ee coukj raise the value of subscriptions to increase the
inc(￿ to the group on an ongoing basis. either temporarily or
pemianentty. there has been a recent raise in hall rental rate,
hry*ever, sul)scriptK)ns have remained flat. Rising infiatson
leading to increased costs of running operations has led lo a
further risk. ￿ may need to make fubjre hall rental and
¥ubscriptw)n in￿Se$ based on rates of Infia￿n.
Reduth"on or of leader5. The gr￿Jp is totalty reliant upon
volunteers to run and administer the activities of the group. If
there ￿as a reduCt￿n in the number of leaders to an
unacceptable ￿e1 in a part￿Ular section or the group as a whole
then there woukj have to be a contraction. consolidation or
dosure of a section. In the *Drst case scenario the complete
dosure of the Group.
Reduth"on or h)s5 of members. The GTOUP provides activities for
all young pecpSe aged 6 to 14. If there was a reduction in
membership in a parb"cuLar wtion or the group as whole Ihen
there V•Duld have to be a o)ntraction. consolNlation or closure of
a section. In the worst case scenafm) the complete closure of the
Group.
R18k and Int•mal Control (Sp￿lmen 2)
The group has in place systems of inlemal controls that are
designed to Provkde reasonable assurance against material
mismanagement or bss. these include 2 s￿natOneS for all
payments and a f))mprehensNe insurance polic￿ to ensure that
insurable risks a￿ covered.

statements. Whe￿ relevant, about..
We intend to add a Squirrels group (ages 441 in 2024 and a
a¢bvety wothng with the wder County group lo launch a pilot.
This wll help us train fvtuie leaders for other groups which had
been a ￿n￿rn for some b'me. which we hope to mitsgate.
There are no other exPans￿n plans. If the Squirrels pilot is
succvssful, we may need to expand beavers to groups due
lo increased demand. We tr￿lled a Christmas fair to fundraise,
which more than covered our costs. and re-invest in equipment.
We are also tsking advantage and applying for grants, where
appli￿ble lo replace fumrture. fittings and make improvements,
from the I￿al Council. Our new website went live earfier this
year, induding an online bcoking system to manage hall hut
hiring. This has automated the booking and payment process,
meaning rt is ncrw easier lo collect payments, and easier to
detemiine ongoing and fvtU￿ income. The website further
publicises our scout activibes as well as advertising the
availability of rentals which is in hoh demand in the local area.
With the predicted effiryencw for our Trustee board, and
accounting. this should prove a goc¥J return, although rt is too
