Cambridgeshire Seafch & Rescueteam who taught the children howto
stsy safe while exploring, and a former Canadlan Scout who brought along
their hockey kitand Canadian SccNJling badges.The Beavers allwent on
lots of drfferent hikes around the local area, and on visits to local sites.
They practiced pond dipping at the RSPB re$eNe In Fowlmere, and went to
a hlstorical local church. where they enjoye(I some ￿ntage gfallnl and
learned aboul all the rolesthe building hès played In ihe local ¢ommunity-
Theyvisited Sawston Fire Station. where they had the chance to operate a
fire Injck. and went to Whittlesford Church, where they had ftjn taking a

Cubs enjoyed science sessions. practiced knotting and made mini ralts
and tripods. The knots proved useful at summei camp when the cubs
made a bridge. The activities contlnued wlth pancake keyrfngs. pitta
pizzas on the campfire, Easter STEM challenges and a fabulous evening
wIEh Dads maknngwooden robots. The Cubs MadeworMe￿es and
pLanted seedsforlhe Gardenef badge and ended theyear on the assauli
course.
Scouts made electronlc elrcults, blrd tables, pioneering stTUCtures and
balloon powered cars. and leaint about living and worktng in Antarctica
from a guest speakerwho bTought in someAntarctic ice. They practised
their nawgaty.on and orienteeringahead of iwo Arrows teams successfully
completingthe Chiltern 20 challenge in October compeling against
Scouts from Greaief Nonh London and other counties and then
competing in the Cambridge Districl Silver Fox Night Hike near St Neots In
November. Thelroop also took part in the 2023 Jambowiree, an
intemational ten pin bowling competrtion, PTa¢ts"ced Chinese calligraphy
and made Scalllon pancakes for Chlnese New Year as well as belng
creatNewith pancake art t￿ Shrove Tuesday.
SuGG£s*￿- Both Beaver packs held sleepovers at the hut durlng the year.
The Cub packs allende(J a lolnt summer camp at Skreene Park. and enjoyed
activities such as building rafts, kayakingand abseiling. The Scout camps
Included a very cold Flre and Ice camp atTolmers S¢outAct(vlty Centre In january
whereArrows joined other Cambridge Distrlct Scouts and 8 much warmer summer
actlvlty camp at Gllwell Park.
. The Group attended the Remembrance Day Para(Je and
Seryice. The Cubs cleaned insitle the church and were ableto Ing the bells. The
Cubs and Beavers made dlsplays for the Chrlslmas tree festival and flower feslival
In support ofthe Raisethe Rooffund tor Duxford Church. The Scout hut continues
to be hlred out to local scoutgroups and for other actlvities.
