The financial slaletnenls have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in nole 1 to the

The principal activity of the company is that of 8 ¢harily, established for the advancernent and education and other

operating with a variety of sources and publiuty but not carrying out any trading act ol a permanent naluie.

The charity has the general aim of conlribuling lo the quality of lrfe of p8tients under the care of the Oxford Kldney
Unil and ils satellite units in Milton Keynes, High Wcombe, Swindon, Stoke MandevSlle. The Horton, Banbury. and
fuluie planned satellites.
Expenditure on the charilvs activities is determined by discussion wlth the trustees. hospital senior nurses, and any
other inleiested parties.

The Fund's Investments include quoted inveslm8nts. treasury stock, and cash deposits which the tiustees consider
lo be in line with the charity's investment objectives. The investment portfolio is piesently categorised by their
investment manager as hawng a balan￿d Investment objective and medium level of risk.
£184,868 of the total investments of £3,848.018 is held in gilt8, deposils, and bonds. The balance of £3,663,150 is
invested in equities and other investrnents with a view lo compensating for inflation pending expenditure of future
projects.
The charity does not invesl in any company which the Iwsle¢s consider detrimental to society. the environment, or
on elhi¢al grounds.
Donations and l$gacles are Ihe principlè continuing source of funds, the others re1ale to Investment income.

It Is the policy ol the ch8rity that unreslricled funds whlch have nol been designated for a specific use should be
maintained at a level equivalent lo between three and six month's expenditure. The trustees wnsider that reserves
81 thi5 level will ensure that. in the event ol a signific8nl diop in ILinding, they will be able to continue the charity's
eurrent activities while consideration is given lo way5 in which additional funds may be raised. This level of ieserves
has been mainl8ined throughout the year. As at 31 May 2022, unie81iiclÉd funds were £3,385,219.

representatives. 2 with business expertise and a solicitor. Al e8eh annual general rneeting, one third of Ihe rllembeis
of the Board of Trustees ietire from office and by agreement, have the opportunity to be re-elected. Thi5 Is in
accordance with theArtlcles olAssocialion.
Organisatlon
The board of directors (who are the Iru8ttresl admlnlster Ihe chaiity. The board meets ￿l¢e a year {wh￿h indudes
an annual general meelingl. The day to day operations of the charity are delegated to and managed by the
secretary under the direction of the chair. The ch8ii and secretary meet al regular intervals to monilor ongoing
operations and discuss future plans.
Trustee Inductlon and Tralnlng
Trustees re￿1ve a copy of the Memorandurn and Articles ol A88OCl81ion together with the Chaiity Commission
leaflet on the responsibilities of Iiuslees. The majority of th8 trustees are medical consultants and consequent
would be quite familiar with the charity objectives. The other trustees are guided by advice from the consullanls.
Ongoing training needs 8re addressed as and when required.

Risk Management
The trustees activèly review the major risks which face the charity on 8 iegular basis and belleve that the Iiust,
having adequate free resources, combined with an annual review of key financial controls will provide sufficient
8afeguaids in the event ol adverse conditions. The Iruslfyes have also examined other operalionaj and business
risks which face the charity and confim Ihal they have esl8bllshed systems lo mltigale thern.
The Chaiity does not hold fijndraising events and consequently risk from fire and healih and Safely is reduced. A
roserves policy ha8 been set up to manage financial risk and is regularly rev￿Wed by the trustees.
The trustees have delegated InvestsneRI powers to Barclays Wealth. The trustee5 maintain re9ul8r contact with
Barclays Wealth lo discuss the perfortnarn￿ and future requ1￿MentS of the Qhaiily. Barc5ays W8allh has a number
of policies in Pla￿ to ensure th81 any risks they face are managed Efficiently. These include the following..
Clients IM)0 make use of Barclays Vvealth's nominee servlces have their stock registered in the name of
one of 8arcJays Wealth's nominee companies. The nominee companies are exclu5ivety non-trading
companies as their $018 purpose is lo hold securities on behalf of their dient. These securities aio Govered
ty the FSA Investors. Compensat￿￿ Services.
Bardays Wealth also carries Professional Indemnity and Comprehensive Crfme insuran¢e that provides
additional cover ol up lo £20 million for each and every claim in the event ol clients, stock being
mi88ppropriated. In addition, should a claim exceed this figure then Barclays Wealth also has the sKJtential
protection ol ils parent company'8 Crime and Civil Liability Insuran￿ Policy.
Transactions can only lake place be aulhoiised instruction. 11 is a requirement that all movements of stock

1.2 Going coneern
At the time of approving Ihe financlal statemellls, the trustees have a reasonable expeclalion th81 the charity
has adequate resources to continue in operatlonal exislenoe for the foreseeable future. Thus the trusletrs
eontlnue to adopt the going con￿r￿ basis of accounling in preparlng the financi31 statements.
1.3 Charltable funds
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the chaiitable objeclives al the dlscretion of the Iruslees.
Restricled funds can only U88d for pariicular r85lricted purposes within the obi'ecis of Ihe charily.
Restriction5 arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for partlcular reslrioled purposes.

1.4 Income
All incoming resources are in¢luded on ihe Slalement of Financial Activities when the charity is legal￿ entitled
to the income and the arnount can be quanlrfied with reasonable accuracy. The following speclfic policies ale
8ppl￿d to particular categories ol in(xJme.
Voluntary income is received by way of grants, endowments, donations, and gifts and is included in full in the
Statement of Financial Activities when receivable. Grants where entitlement is not conditional on the delivery
of a specific performance by the charity are recognized wh9n the charity becomes uncondilionally entitled to
the grant. The value of services ha5 not been included.
Legacies are included when the charity is advlsed by the personal representative of an estate that lh8
payment will be rnade or property transferred and the arnounl involved can be quantified.
Income from inve51tn8nts is included in the year in which rt is ieceivable.

1.5 Expendlture
Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all
sts related lo the category. Where costs cannot be directly allribuled to particular headings. they have been
allocated lo activities on a basis con818lent with the use of Igsources. Expendiluie includes any VAT which
cannot be fully recovered and is reported as part ol the expenditure to which il ￿lates.
Costs of generallng funds comprise inveslrnent managers, costs.
Charitable expenditure compiises those costs incurred by the charity In the delivery of Ils aclNrtie$ and
serviTrs for ils beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activit￿S and those
costs of an Indirecl nature necessary lo support them.
Support costs are those costs Incurred directly In S￿pport of expenditure on the objects of the th8rlty and
include projecl management.
Governance costs comprise 811 costs involving the public awounlability ol the cha￿tY and ils ￿mplIan
regulations with good piactice. These costs include costs relating lo independent examination and legal fees
I￿&ther with an apportionment of overhead and support costs.
Grants offered subject lo conditions which have not been rT*t At the year-end date are noted as 8 commitment
bul not accrued as expenditure.
1.8 Fixèd asset investments
Investtnents held as fixed assets are ievalued at mid-market value at the balance sheet da18 and the gain 01
loss taken lo the Statement of Flnancial Activities.
All gains and losses are taken to the Slalemtsnl ol Financial Activities as they arise. Realised gains and losses
on invèslmenls are calculated as the differen￿ between sale proceeds and open market v81ue lor purchas8
date if later). Uniealised gains and losses are c8l¢ulated as the difference between the market value at the
year end and openlng mark81 value lor purchase date il later).
1.7 Cash and cash equlva19nts
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand. deposrts held at call wilh banks, cash contained within the
investment portfolio, other short-lerw liquid investments with original matuiities ol three months or less, and
bank overdraft8. 8ank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in cvrrent liabilities.

Critical accounting estlmates and judgement8
In the appltcation of the charlly's accountlng policies, the trLtstees are required to make judgernents. estimates
and assumptions about the carryillg amount of asset5 and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other
sources. The estimates and associated assumptlons are based on historical experiern￿ and other factors that
are considered to be rèlwant. Aclu81 results may differ from these eslirnales.
The estimates and undeitylng assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting
estiw8tes are recogni5ed in the period in which the ¢stimate is revised where the Tevision affects only that
period. or in the p6rfod of the ievision and future periods where the revision affects both current and lulure
periods.
Thé Trustees do not consider that there are any key areas of jud9oment or estirnalion uncertainty within the
financial statements.
