was merged Inlo The Swlre Charllable Trust In 2015. The Trust admlnislers a number of scholarshlps fci
graduate and poslgraduala study al Bntish and overseas universit￿8 for overseas students.
Scholarships are 8dvertised on th8 websllgs 018ffl15algd unSversbties or college8 websll83, 8nd Sn n811onal
papers in Hong Kong, Japan. Chlna, and other lurlsdlctlon5. Candidates apply directly lo the affilbaled
unlvèrsS118s and, If they meet the acadgmlc crllaria, they are inlervlewed by a panel. The university
docldes whether lo offer a eandldAt8 admlssion to their chosen course of study. The unlverslty may then
refer a successful candldate lo bg considered for a scholarshlp from the Trust.

Wllhln th8 Trust's focused funding programmes £1.064,268 was owarded In Opportunlty grants, £454,862

The Trustees, principal resources aris8 trom donations lo the Irusl. The Trustee5 have expended through
donations and grants Ihe income arising therefrom on an annual basis. The Trustees maintain a cash
balanc8 in order to provide a fund to meet grants and donollons whkh they wlsh lo make In excess of
donations received In any particular year.
In this regard the Trustees have noted the statutory duty of care wuired by the Trustee Act 2000. in
relation lo their holding suStable investments and the n88d for diver8ificallon of Inv8slmenls so far as Is
appropriate lo the circumstsnces of the trust.
There is no requirement lo rnaintain a particular level of In￿me r6sèNas as endowment funds can be
expended lo meet expendllure as required.
