Section B. Performance. ChaRlenges & Achievements
The I" Chesham Scout Group remains active in the local community. providing OPFK>rtunities
for young knys and girls to join one of its Squirrel. B¢aver, Cub or Scout Sections.
As ever a big thank you to the leadership teams, both Scouting and Trustees, for th¢ir
continued commitment to the group. without whom the opry)rtunities we provide would not
be possible.
The health of the group in temis of number of members continues to be strong. with all
sections maintaining a healthy number of members. In addition we opened the new Squirrel
group in Jun¢. which has been a gTvat success.
The annual Santa FloaL Schools of Cheshavn Carnival and Scout Post continue lo be vital
tuDdraising activities for us.
I" Chesham Scout Group ¢ontinu¢s to suptx)rt the community by offering for hire. the Scoul
leadquart¢rs (SHQ) in East Strc¢L for local clubs and aclivily nrganisalion.s. The TnLStees
would like to thank ihe leaders & members of the Chesham All Girls Band for their continued
preference and SUp￿rt in using the SHQ facilities. Thanks again also, to the support of F.Ilie
Redding (line dancing), lan Scott (First Aid Training) and Mountainwise (Duke of Edinburgh
Award) for hiring the SHQ. Additionally. a big thank you to Sarah Eades for handling all the
bookings for the SHQ this past year. If you know of someone or a gyoup which could make

consist of a Royal Ch8ner. which in lurn gives authorily lo the Bye Laws of the Association
and The Policy. Organisation and Rules of The Scout AssociatiotL
2. The 1st Chesham Scout Group is a tn]st establis1￿ under the Scout Association rules w￿ch
are common to all Scouts.
3. The Trustecs ate apwinied in accorda￿ with the Policy. Organisation and Rules of The
Scout Association.
4. The 1st Chesham Scout Group is Manag￿ by the Board of Trustee& the members of which
arc the 'Charity Trustees, of the Scout Group. As charity trnstees they are responsibl¢ for
complying wilh legislation applicable to charities. This includ¢s th¢ registration. keeping
prop¢r ￿COunts and nwking returns to the Charity Con)Jnission as appropriate.
5. The Committee consists of 3 inde￿ident representatives, Cbair. Trcasurer and Secretary

Section D. Objectives & Activities
The objectives of the I" Chesham Scout Group are as a unit of the Scout Association.
"The Aim of The Scout Associaiion is to promote the development of young people in
achieving their full physical. int¢ll¢ctual. social and spiritual wtentials. as individual& as
responsible citizen5 and as rnem￿rs of their local nalional and international communities.
The method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by provÉding an enjoyable and
attrdclivc scheme ofprogressive training. based on the Scout Promisc and LAW and guided by
adult leadership.
Section E. Financial Review
I Chesham accounts are published annually and presented at the AGM.
2. Th¢ Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable
activities of the group should incom¢ and fundraising activilies fall short. The Board of
Trustees consid¢rs that th¢ group should hold a sum equivalent to 12 months rumiinby COSt8.
3. The Group does not have sufficient funds lo invest tn longer iemi investments. The Group has
therefore adop￿ a risk averse strategy to the investment of its funds. All funds are held in
c&8h using only mainstream banks or building societies
