The BRADWELL COMMUNITY CENTRE TRUST

ANNUAL REPORT. NOVEMBER 26[th] 2022

The past 12 months has been a year of consolidation after the major buildings works carried out in the previous two years. The place has become more active and busy with 20 groups regularly using the centre as well as weekend events such as parties and Craft Fayres.

New clubs/activities – British Sign Language classes, Pilates, Dogs Training club, Dance exercise, Bookworms, Coastwatch

We have lost the Dogs club because they needed a larger space but have gained the Youth Club and another Tots group, Baby Yoga, starting in 2023.

There have been over 20 Parties – mostly birthdays - and the place is becoming a popular venue with excellent reviews/comments.

Christmas decorations and lights were set up thanks to Julia, Kim and a team – we have added more this year.

There was a highly successful Jubilee Café in June run by the WI– and we were part of the team that put together the Bradwell Jubilee events as well as the Food and Craft Fayre in August.

Craft Fayres and a Table-Top sale were held but we lack an Events Coordinator to organise more of these

Repairs and upgrades to the buidings continue to be made, as and when funding has been available, including:

Health and Safety - The Trustees and Management Team acknowledge the safety of all users of the Centre is paramount and during the past year we have introduced all the required Policies and Procedures including Health & Safety, Fire Risk Assessment and Health & Hygiene to name but three.

The merger of the two charities – this one and the Bradwell Community Council - has been completed today. Through this we have extended the remit of the Old School to include raising funds to support those in need in the community through the Community Fund. This is particularly poignant following the recent death of Mavis Scott who was so instrumental in creating the two charities and was so keen to see the aims of the Community Council be continued – this merger and the creation of the Community Fund ensure that her legacy continues.

Going forward

Rates for 2023

The Committee have agreed to raise rates from the beginning of 2023 by 50p ph for ‘not for profit’ groups and £1 ph for ‘with profit/businesses’. We have kept the increase to the minimum despite the extra fuel costs we face this year - this still keeps us very competitive. We will introduce a simple ‘Party Package’ of £60 for hire of both halls for 3 hours – including the kitchen – and £20 for each extra full or part hour. This is to make it simpler and clearer for booking.

There will be at least one event to raise funds for the Community Fund – supporting those in need in the community.

We still want to have more Pop-up cafes etc to raise funds for the Centre but need volunteers to organise.

Youth Club – we are hoping this will grow and become a fixture of the Centre each week

There is so much more we could do but it relies on finding the funding as well as volunteers – now needed more than ever if we are to continue to be an active hub of the community.
