Wandsworth Historical Society (WHS) was entered onto the Register of Charities in October
1975.
WHS is an unincorporated organisation and is governed by lis Constilution. 11 is run by a
Management Committee, elected by its members. all of whom are volunteers. The Chair is
required 10 reti￿ by roiaiion every Ihree years.
3. Objectives 8nd activities
WHS, objectives, as set out in its constitution are to..
Promole and encourage the study of local history. archacology and related subjects in
the London Borough of Wandsworth
Put on ￿mianen1 record and. where appropriate. publish the results of such study
Coordinate local research and to 8uid¢ those so engaged io sources of infomation
Collect and preserve documents. Piclures and other relics relating to the Borougyh and
lo ¢ncourag¢ such preservation by otyicial and oiher
Further these objects by means of meetings. exhibitions, excavations, correspondence
and visits to places of interest
The main aciivities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objeclive are..
Striving to promote a keen interest among the general public in history and
archaeology through monthly talks (which members of the public may attend as
guests, free of charge) and th¢ publi￿(lon of high quality research via its periodic

Encouraging m¢mb¢rs to undertake historical research and providing support and
resources via ils website
Surveying and recording the Thames foreshore from an archaeological ￿rSt￿CtIVe. in
order to dernon51rate its historical value
Keeping its annual membership fees affordable
Having reviewed the Charity Commissioner's general guidance on public benefit, Ihe
Trustees are satisfied that these obj￿tIveS continue to be appropnate.

Active involvement in and promotion of the Wandsworth Heritage Feslival 2024
A significant contnbution towards the organisalion and presentstion of the Wesl
London Local History Conference In Apnl 2024
The award mad¢ to one of our Society's m¢mbcrs by the prestlbYlOUs Brilish
Association for Local History of national runner-up in its 'long heritag)e article,
competition. following its publication in the WHS journal in the spring of 2024
Aciive involv¢m¢nl and r¢cognilion for its important on-going local Thames
Foreshore Survey. now for more than 60 years
Aclive involvement in volunieering with the regional Young Archaeologists
Club based al Fulham Palace
Family Archaeological DTopin event at WaTJdsworth Town Library in August

Representaiion on local herithge bodies including Wandsworth Heritsge Forum
and Wandsworth Council Conservation and Heritage Areas Advisory Committee
S. Financial Review
WHS has had a successful financial year and has adequate reserves. Ils resources have been
boosted by a substantial legacy from a former member. Going for￿ard. these funds. which
are held for unrestricted purposes will be used to supp)rt a series of projects to further WHS,
objectives.

Report lo the Truslees of the Wandsworth Historical Society on the accounts for the year
ended 31 March 2025.
Respective responstbilities of Iru$tees and examiner
The charity's Tn￿teeS are responsible for the prepardtion of the accounts. The charity's
Trustees consider thal an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the
Charities Act 201 I (the 2011 Act) and that an inde￿ndent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 A¢t'
to follow the pr￿edureS laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity
Commission under section 145(5Xb) of the 201 l Act, and
to stste wheih¢r tHrticular malleis have com¢ lo my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the
Chariiy Commission. An examination includes 8 review of the accounting records kept by
the charity and a comparison of ihe a￿Ounts presented with those re¢oids. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in th¢ accounts, and seeking explanations
from you as Irusle¢s conc¢ming any such matters. Th¢ pr￿edureS undertaken do not provide
all the evidence thai would be required in an audil. and consequenily no opinion is given as io
whether the accounts presenl a 'tru¢ and fair view, and the repx)rt is limited io those matters
set out in the siaiement below.
Independent examiner's statements
In connection with my examination, no material matt¢rs have come to my attention which
gives m¢ caus¢ to b¢li¢ve that in, any matrial r¢sp¢cl'.
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities
Act; or
the accounts did nol accord with ihe accounling records
I have no concerns and have come across no oth¢r matters in connection with the
examination to which attenlion should be drawm in this r¢FK)rt in order to enable a proper
