**Burham Village Hall Trustees Report for 2025.** 

## **Chair’s Report 2nd December 2025** 

I would like to begin by thanking all committee members for their continued support throughout the year. A special thank you goes to Dave Young and Aileen Bergin for their additional efforts in managing the day-to-day tasks that keep the hall running so effectively. 

Alongside our regular weekly users — the Pre-school, Bowls Club, Music Hall, FORCE, and dance classes — the hall has remained busy with weekend bookings for weddings, baby sales, and parties for both children and adults. I am pleased to report that, apart from one significant damage incident, all bookings have run smoothly thanks to the hard work and dedication of our caretakers. 

Our Secretary/Treasurer, David Young, has once again had a busy and productive year. He successfully applied for a grant to help with costs towards improving the security of our outdoor area and has negotiated favourable energy rates, always ensuring the hall achieves the best possible value for money. 

We have invested in several improvements this year. Early in the year, the entrance hall and corridor flooring were replaced following water damage, and in July, the main hall floor was fully refurbished. The results look excellent, and we hope that the higher-quality refurbishment will reduce maintenance needs in the long term. In addition, we purchased a new tall ladder for maintenance purposes and new tables for general use. 

A small group of trustees also carried out a spring clean, which helped us reorganize and create additional storage space for regular hirers. This has been much appreciated and has made the back storage area significantly tidier and more functional. 

All Village Hall policies have been reviewed and updated, and this will remain an ongoing process to ensure compliance and best practice. 

Looking ahead, we are continuing discussions with our waste removal company to ensure we meet new regulations and are awaiting further guidance and cost details. 

It has been another successful year for the hall. However, we are keen to welcome new trustees to join the committee and help ensure that the hall continues to serve future generations as a valuable community asset.
