| Risk and Internal Control |
|||
| The Group Executive Committee has identified the major risks |
to | ||
| ed which they believe the Group is exposed, these have been review |
|||
| he and systems have been established to mitigate against them. T |
|||
| main areas ofconcern that have been identified are: | |||
| Damage to the building, property and equipment. The Group w |

m o |
||
| neighbouring organisations such as the church, community ce |
re t |
||
| and other Scout Groups. Similar reciprocal arrangements exist |
th i |
||
| these organisations. The Group has sufficient buildings and conte |
ts | ||
| insurance in place to mitigate against permanent loss. |
|||
| Injury to leaders, helpers, supporters and members. The Group |
|||
| through the capitation fees contributes to the Scout Associations |
|||
| national accident insurance policy. Risk Assessments are undertak |
n | ||
| before all activities. | |||
| Reduced income from subscriptions fund raising. The Group |
s | ||
| primarily reliant upon income from subscriptions and fundraising. T e |
|||
| group does hold a reserve to ensure the continuity ofactivities shou d | |||
| there be a major reduction in income, suchas as occured during |
|||
| 2021/21 due to COVID. The reserve is sufficient to keep the Group i |
|||
| operation for a period significantly in excess of 12 months. Th |
|||
| Committee could raise the value of subscriptions to increase |
th | ||
| income to the group on an ongoing basis, either temporarily |
o | ||
| permanently. | |||
| Reduction or loss of leaders. The group is totally reliant upon |
|||
| volunteers to run and administer the activities of the grou . If th |
|||
| w r duction in the number of leaders to an unacceptable level |
in | ||
| a particular section or the group as a whole then there would have |
to | ||
| be a contraction, consolidation or closure of a section. In the worst |
|||
| ca se scenario the complete closure ofthe Group. |
|||
| R eduction or loss of members. The Group provides activities for |
all | ||
| y oung people aged 6to 18.Ifthere was a reduction in membership |
in | ||
| a particular section or the group as whole then there would have |
to | ||
| b e a contraction, consolidation or closure of a section. In the worst |
|||
| se scenario the complete closure ofthe Group. | |||
| Th egroup has in place systems ofinternal controls that are |
|||
| de signed to provide reasonable assurance against material |
|||
| m ismanagement or loss, these include 2signatories for all payments |
|||
| an d comprehensive insurance policies to ensure that insurable risks |
|||
| ar ecovered. |
