## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Battersea Scout Centre**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Battersea Scout Centre (the Centre) for the year ended 31st March 2024

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Centre you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Centre’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's Report**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Centre as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. The accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached,

|Objects|The object of the Charity is to provide a meeting place for the development of young people to help them achieve their full physical,|
||intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.|
|Public Benefit|The Trustees have paid due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Our charity's aim|
||is to help and educate young people through their leisure time or educational activities. Continued improvement|
||work has been undertaken at the Centre to improve the premises and to ensure that the health and safety|
||requirements are met. We have regular groups of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts using the centre and|
||when they are not, local community groups make use of the property.|
|Achievements|The past twelve months have seen the Trustees continue to improve the centre. The entrance doors to the centre have been repainted|
||as have the windows and porch ceiling. In addition, the Trustees have had an EICR Survey done and as a result the electrical consumer unit|
||was replaced as well as a PIR Security Light installed in the car park. The electrics were then given a complete health check and any faults|
||corrected. Last, but not least the Trustees agreed the purchse of two machines to clean the hall floor. All in all, the Trustees are very pleased with|
||their years work.|
|Reserves|The Trustees can confirm that the Battersea Scout Centre has at least one year's running costs in reserve.|
|Trustees expenses|One Trustee, Mr Reynolds was appointed with Charity Commission guidance to clean the hall for two hours a day, five days a week, for which his|
||company, C W Reynolds Renovations duly received £1950.00, but is still owed a further £650 as his invoice was delayed. His company was paid|
||£3.450 for the year 2022/23 of which £850 was owed from the previous year.|
