Our primary building is now 100 years old and we look il over 50 yéars ago when il was in a slate of some disrepair. Since that time, we have made great Improvements to the building and brought the building back lo a high standard of repair and decoration. Our year ending October 2024 was a very encouraging year. building on the progress of the previous year. As the recovery from the pandemic continues. bookings have increased and are now much closer to pre-pandemic levels. with the average group slze exceeding that tsf 2023. Sizewell Hall has experiencod a lime of 8tsbility in the staff team over the last year, which has not always been tho case In recent year5. Mall Shaddick, having stepped up ID the role of Centre Manager at the end of 2023, has eontinued to oversee the day to day running ol the hall, alongside regular meetings with Colin Low and IMII Elphick who have provided support in their role as Trustees. Jason Shaw has continued to be a great addition to the team. providing attention lo detsil and attentiveness to the needs of guests. Sara continues lo be the first point ol contact for groups with Bookings and Accounts queries, 8s-well as assisting with managing the Gfft Shop and has played a large part in the Suc￿sS of the shop over the last year. We are also particularly gr81eful to our regular volunteers, Roger, Ray and Steve who have all contributed immensely to keeping the Hall's grounds in good condition. The trustee's have continued lo support the staff team by regularfy duty managing at weekends to allow for breaks, which has been very valuable particular￿ while the hall Is operallng with reduced staffing levels than in previous years. We also eXp￿ssed our gratitude to Colin and Melonie Low who have now (January 20251 stepped down fvom their roles as Trustees Icolin as Chair ofthe Boardl and lo Neil Sarjeant who has stepped down as Treasurer Imay 2024). Adam Golding has now taken up the role of Chair of the Boar¢1 and Andrea Gdding has nowjoined as a Trusteg. We are also pleased that Tim Barker has taken on the role tsf Treasurer. As menb"oned. the Hall is over 100 years old and in constant need of care and attention. Furthgr work was proposed to replace two windows in Forge Cottage and three VVThndows on the rear of the 2nd Floor VVThng November 2024. Repairs ale also required lo the greenhouse lo secure the glass roof. Efforts are ongoing lo renovate m￿e bedrooms, with caipels now having been repla¢ed in four bedrooms along wrth painting Mork completed. Focus has now shifted in the short terni lo renovating the now vacant Arch Cottage, so that this can either house knlure stsff or provided Short-lerni rental income, before refocusing on room renovations. th el￿tricitY costs more than doubling as the Hall moved into a new contract at the beginning of October 2024. The trustees reluctantly agreed lo increase hire f@es correspondingly lo offset these and other cost prossures for 2025. A much smaller increase is anticipated lo be needed for 2026.
