British Educational Leadershlp Management and Adminlstration Society Limited
Independent Auditors. Report to tho Mombors of British Educational Leadership Managemenl
and Administration Society Limited (continued)
The extent to ￿lch our procedures are capthe of deter*ThJ irregularities, induding fraud is detailed below.
The challtable company 1$ subjec¢ to laws and regulatws that dir• arKI indiredy affect the financial
statements. Based on our undefstanding of the charitable company 8fKI the environment it operates wf(hin, we
determined that the laws and regulations which were most 5ignfficanl included FRS 102. Companies Act 2006,
Hea51h and Safety regulations arKI the Charrties Act 2011. We considered the exlent to which non-compliance
with these laws and regulations might have a matersal effect on the financial slalements. induding how fraud
might occur. We evaluated management's incentives and opportunits'es for fraudulent manipulation of the
financial slalemenls {including the risk of override of controls). and detemiined that the principal risks were
related lo the posting of inappropriate journal entries to improve the company's resutt for the period, and
management bias in key accounting estim*es.
Audst procedures perforn￿d by Ihe engagement team induded:
Discussions w7lh management and those responsible for legal compliance procedures within the eharilable
company lo obtain an understanding of the ￿al and regulalory framework applicable to the charitable
company and how the charitable comparry complies with that framework, induding consideration of known
or suspected in51ance5 of non-compliarbce with laws and regulations and fraud,.
Reviewing minutes of Board meetings",
Identifying and assessing the design effectiveness of controls thal management has in place lo prevent and
delect fraud and non-compliance with laws and regulations..
Challenging assumplions and judgements made by management in their signthcant accounting estimates.
Identifying and lesling journal entries. in paTlicular any joumal entries posted wlh unusual account
combinabons or posted by senior management.
There are Inhe￿￿1 limitations in the aL￿1t procedure5 described above arHd the more removed non-compliance
with laws and regulations is from the events and transacbons reflected in the financial statement5, the less likely
we are lo become aware of rt. A50, the risk of not deleth.ng a material misstalemenl due to fraud is higher than
the risk of not delecling one resulting from error, as fraud may involve deliberate concealment by, for example,
forgery or intentional misrepresentations. or through collusion.
