Begrüßung und Vorstellung des Vorstandes** Der Vorsitzende der Friends of Douglas House, Herr Ingo Müller-Wodarg, begrüßt die anwesenden Mitglieder und Schulvertreter und dankt ihnen für ihr Kommen. Er erklärt die Versammlung für beschlussfähig, da das Quorum erfüllt ist (15 Online-Stimmen von Mitgliedern, die bereits im Vorfeld der Sitzung abgestimmt haben, sowie 12 zusätzlich anwesende Mitglieder, die noch nicht vorab online abgestimmt haben). Herr Müller-Wodarg unterstreicht die immense Wichtigkeit der Kommunikation zwischen Friends, Schule und Schulgemeinschaft, die durch diese Veröffentlichungen gefördert wird. Herr Müller-Wodarg dankt den Vorstandsmitgliedern für die gute Zusammenarbeit. Jahresabschluss 2020/2021** Silja Johnson berichtet: Im Geschäftsjahr 2020/2021 (Geschäftsjahr beginnt jeweils im April) betrugen die Einnahmen £34.047. Damit sind die Einnahmen gegenüber dem Vorjahr (£57.360) signifikant um etwa £23.313 gesunken. Dies ist auf die Covidpandemie zurückzuführen, welche uns gez������������������������������������������� umzustellen, um uns an die veränderten Umstände anzupassen. Dies ist uns jedoch sehr gut gelungen, insbesondere auch durch die wundervolle Unterstützung von Axel Scheffler, die einige unserer Projekte erst ermöglicht hat. - Statt unsere typischen drei großen und vielen kleineren Veranstaltungen durchzuführen, haben wir unsere Produktpallette erweitert und vorwiegend auf Onlineaktionen umgestellt, wobei wir aber auf beliebte Aktivitäten, wie das Adventskranzbinden oder den Verkauf der selbstgestalteten Geschirrtücher und Taschen der Grundschule sowie von second-hand Büchern nicht verzichtet haben. Hervorzuheben sind hier: - Adventskalender mit Axel Scheffler Motiv und Lindt Kugeln (£6.618) - � Weihnachtskarten mit Axel Scheffler Motiven (£1.906) - Auktion der Axel Scheffler Gemälde (£2.342) - Tea Towels/Bags der Grundschule (£906) - Adventskränze (£947, wobei hier zu berücksichtigen ist, dass wir aufgrund der Brexitbeschränkungen, die inzwischen gelten, bereits in diesem Finanzjahr großzügig für das zukünftige Adventskranzbinden eingekauft haben, so dass der Gewinn dadurch etwas verzerrt wird.) - Verkauf FOD-Merchandise: bei Berücksichtigung der Ausgaben erhalten wir Nettogewinn von knapp £3.336 (zudem hoher Warenbestand von £5065) - A2 - - Mitgliedsbeiträge £2.460 (etwas zurückgegangen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr, aber ein gutes Ergebnis, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir uns den neuen Familien nie live vorstellen konnten) - ������������������������������������������������������� - Private Spenden £6902: Dank geht an eine DSL-Familie, die eine großzügige Spende in Höhe von £3000 geleistet hat; zusätz��������������������������������������������������������������������� dazugegeben (unter der Bedingung das das Geld für Covid-relevante Maßnahmen ausgegeben wird. Dank auch an die Eltern der Mäusegruppe, die £315 gespendet haben. Die Ausgaben betrugen im vergangenen Jahr £44.087. - Davon entfielen £39.352 auf direkte Zahlungen für Projekte an die DSL. Hiervon wurden £ 35.213 bereits ausgezahlt. Für den Restbetrag von £4.139 wurden Rückstellungen gebildet. - Covidsichere Spielsachen für Kindergarten (£1000) - Covidsichere Spielsachen für Grundschule (£1000) - IT Bedarf (covidbedingter Mehrbedarf / zur Ausleihe an bedürftige Familien (£12.163) - Schulhofmobiliar (£21.276) - 11 Keyboards/Mischpult/Einbau (£3.878) - Small events, £506 (Preise Videowettbewerb, Geschenke Einschulung) - Abigeschenke, £34 (Kosten wurden hauptsächlich bereits im Vorjahr abgedeckt) - sowie £775 für sonstige Ausgaben (u.a. Bankgebühren, Kursdifferenzen, Abschiedsgeschenk Frau Kessler, Co2-Zylinder-Miete, gemeinsames FoD-Essen) Das Geschäftsjahr wird mit einem Verlust von £10.040 abgeschlossen, worüber wir sehr froh sind. Das Vorjahr hatte mit sehr hohem Gewinn abgeschlossen (zurückzuführen auf die Anfänge der Pandemie, die Ausgaben am Ende des Geschäftsjahres verhindert hatte), wodurch das Kapital auf knapp £ 50.000 angewachsen war. Durch den Verlust konnte dies nunmehr reduziert werden. Cash zum 31.03.20201 beträgt £37.820, teilweise als festverzinsliches Bankguthaben, ansonsten auf deutschem und britischem Bankkonto, sowie dem Paypal Konto. Der Warenbestand zum Ende des Geschäftsjahres beträgt £5065, das Kapital zum 31.03.2020 £38.298. Damit ist unser Guthaben trotz allem weiterhin großzügig, so dass auch im jetzigen Geschäftsjahr bereits Gelder für Investitionen in größere Projekte zur Verfügung stehen. Silja Johnson dankst ihrem Buchprüfer Markus Nagel. ## **5. Entlastung Schatzmeister/Vorstand** Die Schatzmeisterin und der Vorstand werden einstimmig entlastet. ## **6. Wahl und Entlastung des Buchprüfers** Der Buchprüfer Markus Nagel wird einstimmig entlastet. Er wird einstimmig als Buchprüfer wiedergewählt. - A3 - ## **7. Veränderungen innerhalb des Vorstandes** ## Wahlen: Silja Johnson (Finanzen) und Bianca Thomann (Einkauf und Inventar) stellen sich turnusgemäß nach drei Jahren zur Wiederwahl zur Verfügung. Kerstin Klein stellt sich als neues Mitglied des Festorganisationsteams zur Wahl. Sie wurde bereits durch den Vorstand co-optiert. Frau Klein stellt sich kurz vor. Frau Johnson, Frau Thomann und Frau Klein werden ohne Gegenstimmen als Mitglieder des Vorstandes bestätigt bzw. neu in den Vorstand gewählt. ## Verabschiedungen: Aus dem Vorstand scheiden auf eigenen Wunsch folgende Mitglieder aus: - Nadine Pantazis (Merchandise); im Vorstand seit Juni 2019 - Birgit Doherty (Festorganisation); im Vorstand seit Juni 2018 - Anja Duvaud (Stellv. Vorsitzende, Festorganisation); im Vorstand seit Juni 2015 Herr Müller-Wodarg bedankt sich bei allen ganz herzlich für Ihren Einsatz in den vergangenen Jahren. ## **9. Oktober 2021 Silja Johnson-Kaufmann - A4 - ## **����������������������������������** ## **Financial Year 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022** The 49[th] financial year of the Friends of Douglas House ended successfully. ������������������� amounts to £58,433 which is £24,386 higher than the ���������������������� and £1,073 above that of 2019/20. Expenses amount to £59.803, so the year ended with a small loss of £1,370. We would like to thank the Leadership of the school, the German School Association, the parent association, the secretariats, the helpful teams at the reception and in the library, the kitchen staff, the wonderful caretaker team and other colleagues at Douglas House, the teachers, the student representatives and, last but not least, Axel Scheffler and Roland Vetter for their important contributions towards making our year a great success. Despite Covid restrictions during the first half of the financial year which prevented us from running the 2021 Summer Fair and Octoberfest, we were able to organise the first Christmas Fair since 2019 and a new event for the first time ever, the Spring Fair in March 2022. We were also able to contribute towards the St Martin festivities in Nov. 2021 after a 2-year pause. So, the 2021/22 financial year saw us partially return to our activities beyond the fundraising to fulfil the other half of our mission, bringing the school community together, something we are particularly excited about. ## **Activities in the last Financial Year (in chronological order)** - Presents to students who passed their Abitur - Catering and welcome at first day of school for year 1 pupils including a present - Breakfast with the Friends to welcome new parents - Annual General Meeting - Catering at St. Martin - - Creation and sale of DSL Advent Calendars (with support by Axel Scheffler and Lindt) - Creation and sale of DSL Christmas Cards (with support by Axel Scheffler) - Creation of Advents Wreaths (with support by numerous volunteer helpers) - Christmas Fair with sale of Advent wreaths and sale of tea towels and tote bags (in cooperation with the primary school) - Spring Fair with flea market and Easter egg hunt - � Continuous sale of FoD textiles and merchandise products The Board held 7 ordinary meetings. Board meetings were initially during Covid restrictions held online via Teams and from October 2021 onwards held in hybrid format, in person with possibility to connect remotely. The Annual General Meeting took place later than usual (on 14 Oct 2021) to allow this to again be an in-person event. ## **Financial Accounts** In the financial year 2021/2022 the **income** amounts to £58,433. This is an increase compared to last year by £24,386. While the income in 2020/21 had been hampered by the lack of any Friends of Douglas House � Douglas House � Petersham Road � Richmond TW10 7AH � www.friendsofdouglashouse.com � friends@dslondon.org.uk - B1 - of the large school events, the 2021/22 financial year benefited from 2 large events, the Christmas Fair (income £18,692) and Spring Fair (income £5,601) as well as the very successful sale of merchandise (income £26,116). The Christmas Fair benefited from the very successful sale of Advent wreaths and the popular raffle. A huge thanks to all our sponsors of the 2021 raffle! We are also hugely grateful to all volunteer helpers who made the Christmas fair possible despite wet and very windy weather. Being the first large school in-person event since 2019, this was a very special occasion for the whole school community. Learning from the times under Covid restrictions, we had expanded our sale of merchandise articles including textiles to online, making it far more accessible to the community throughout the year, leading to a record income of £26,116. Considering the costs of £18,535 for new merchandise, we made a profit of £7,581 with the sale of merchandise, an increase of £4,245 with respect to 2020/21. In this financial year our **expenses** amount to £59,803. Out of these, expenses amounting to £36,885 are allotted directly to DSL projects; further £2,309 are other expenses for the benefit of the DSL, mainly presents for the Abitur students, the Year 1 and 5 as well as new students. Administrative expenses (bank charges, hire of gas cylinder for draught beer) amount to £1,220. Other expenses amount to £353. ���������������������������� fully used. New provisions for projects that have been agreed but not yet paid will be made in the amount of £27,050. We end the financial year with a slight loss of £1,370. We thereby very roughly spent the money that we made this financial year. As before, a part of ������������ money is being held in an interest paying savings account. The other part is held on two current accounts in Germany and the United Kingdom. In addition, the Friends have a PayPal account which proves useful for paying membership fees and for textile and other merchandise orders. Our capital at the end of the financial year 2021/2022 amounts to £36,929. Thus, we still have a generous balance, though one large school project has already been approved for the coming financial year, co-financing of the renovation of the Computer Suite. ## **Membership** In the financial year 2021/22 the Friends of Douglas House had 135 paying members (sole membership or family membership). Compared to the previous year the number of members has increased by 11. Income from membership fees has increased to £2,790. Considering the number of families at DSL, we would still like to see more financial support by membership. Board members who were elected 3 years ago are Nadine Wunderlich, Claudia Keller and Ingo Müller-Wodarg. Nadine Wunderlich and Ingo Müller-Wodarg have agreed to put themselves up for re-election this year. Aysel de Vries and Franziska Herrenknecht have been co-opted during the course of the year and are therefore being put forward to be elected to the Board on 16 June 2022. They have together with Kerstin Klein taken up the leadership of the events team and already very successfully organized the 2021 Christmas Fair and 2022 Spring Fair. Claudia Keller will sadly no longer be running as a candidate for the Board. She made invaluable contributions to the purchase and sale of merchandise and we are immensely grateful for her wonderful work in the Board since her election in June 2019! Marisa Koenneke has left the Friends Board during the spring due to other commitments and played an important role in events organising, having been elected to the Board in October 2020. We are very grateful for her contributions to the work of the Friends Board and school. We send Claudia and Marisa our warmest wishes for their future! ## **Review** In this year we supported, or promised to make money available for, numerous projects of the school or the students, including: - New chairs for Forum - Large screen and IT equipment for Lernzentrum - Two new large outdoor tents for school events - New equipment for the school stage and for digital productions - Contributions towards Abi ball and Prom ball - Table tennis table - Shirts for school running club / competition squad - Funding towards Choir / gospel workshop of Years 7-10 Friends of Douglas House � Douglas House � Petersham Road � Richmond TW10 7AH � www.friendsofdouglashouse.com � friends@dslondon.org.uk - B3 - ## **Outlook** The Friends were formed in 1972 and we are very proud to be carrying this precious legacy into the next half century. We look forward to bringing all festivities back to the school, to help promote the school to the outside world and to provide support towards learning and wellbeing of all pupils. We plan to again have an Octoberfest (08 Oct 2022), Christmas Fair (26 Nov 2022), Spring Fair (25 March 2023) and Summer Fair (01 July 2023) alongside several old and new smaller events. While the pandemic has been a severe restriction to all, it has inspired us in new, different ways which we will now merge with our traditional activities. We hope to be able to further increase membership contributions and sale of merchandise via our online store. We will continue to adjust our range of textiles on offer and also offer new products. Our merchandise will continue to feature the official school logo and also include ranges with Axel Scheffler drawings. ��������������������������������������������������������� Officer on how to further promote the Friends and school and will continue to reach out to parents via our Facebook and Instagram channels as well as Classlist. We see effective communication as key to further promote awareness of our work and to further integrate our activities into the school and community life. Beyond the very successful new Spring Fair which we plan to offer again next year, we will be organising new Coffee mornings with sale of German books to parents. The first such event will take place on 17 June 2022, mark the date and watch out for details in the Weekly and on Classlist! These are just two examples of new events. We will continue to adjust our activities to fit the changing times and needs. As always, it is possible for parents to submit applications for funding provided that a large group of students will be the beneficiary. The application form can be found on our website. We would like to profoundly thank all those parents, teachers, students and colleagues at the school who have supported our work, either by actively taking part in our events or by donations of any kind! For the coming year we very much look forward to our continuing great cooperation with all groups at the school and community and to our contribution towards the success of the DSL.
