First Church of Christ, Sclentist, Cl?ygate and Esher Is a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of
ChrSst, Sclentist, Boston. Massachusetts.
The church 15 governed by Its Constitution and by-laws. whlch regulate such matters as finance and property,
and the elertion, duties and responsibilrtles of members and officers.
Its object Is to maintain, dernon5trate and spread the knowledge of Truth, as set forth in the Bible and
"scien￿ and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Bakei Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Chrlstian
Science and Leader of the Christian Sciente Movement. The church is open to all.

The Trustees have complied with the duty In Sectlon 17151 of the Charitles Art 2011 to have due regard to
public benefit guidance published bythe Charity Commlsslon.
The church holds servi￿5 and meeting5 in accordan￿ wlth Its objects. A Sunday Service 15 held at 10.30 am.
The service of worship and p￿Ver includes readin85 frorn the Bible and 'Science and Health with Key to the
ScriptUfe5 by Mary Baker Eddy. prayers. congregational sin8in8, and a solo.
A Sunday School 15 held at 10.30 am for children and young people up to the age of 20 where they learn how
to make practical the moral and spiritual tea£hings of the Bible in their own lives. Pupi15 attend the classes in
the church or online, and in addition to the local community they come from elsewhere in the UK and from
other countries.
A meeting15 held at 7,30 pm each Wednesdayi except on the first Wednesday ol each month when it is held
at 12.30pm. It provides everyone with the opportunlty to share with other5, the healings and experiences
that have resulted from the study and practice of Christian kien¢e. This meetlnB also Sncludes readings from
the Bible and 'Sciente and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy lo help those attendlng
address world problems and individual and community concerns with effective prayer.
The Sunday seryice and Wednesday meetings are acce55ible through the Zoom system and open to anyone.

The Church maintains a Reading Roorn throughout the year and it 15 open for a perlod once a week. It serves
as a spiritual resource Centre. enabling the public to find Spiritual solutlons to their problems. and provides
a supportive environmeni for study, contemplation, and prayer. The 535es room and lending library stock the
Bible, the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and
other books on Christian Science pyblsshed by the Christian Science Publishing Society, as well as selected

articles from the Christian Science Moniior in Monitor Weekly, CDS and magazine5 such as the Chrfjstlan
Science Journal and Sentinel.
There is a dlgital display screen with changing slides Installed in the front window. Thi5 give5 information
about church actNlties and inspirational plctures and writin8s from the 8ible and Science and Health by Mary
Baker Eda* appropriate for the times.
The Church presented its annual lecture on 20th April 2024, It was held In person in the church building.
Online access was provided for those members or vlsltors who could not make it to the church.
The lerturerwas Monique Hertgen CSBfrom France. The lectvrewaswell recelved and we had approximately
So people in the audlEnce- some of them newto Christian Sciente. We also had a numberof church members
attend online.
The lecture wa5 audlo recorded and posted on the Church's wèbslte, where It could be viewed till the end of
the churth year.

The Increased resources of the church as a result of a large legacy from a late member and the sale of the
Readin8 Roorn nine year5 a80 continue to be turned to good account.
New investment5 shall be ihe responslbllity of the Board, which shall obtain proper advice. if netessary. from
an investment manager authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. The Board shall obtain
the sanction of the mèmbership on matters of principle via normal Business Meetlngs.

The Church has investment reserves of £379.834 lènd of Ortl. Thls compares wlth £345,934 12 months
earlier. The investment portfolio's total annual return was 14.45%. The monetary assets totaled £18,982

There is no speclfic Reserve Policy at present.
Future Developments
The holding of broadcasting of setvices will continue. An updated website is in progress. Regular glving bv
members and listeners is expected to continue to meet the runnlng cost of the church and any further
projects and donations to oiher Christian Science based charrties will be undertaken followlng a vote of the
church membership at a buslness meeting.
Organl$atlonal Structure
A First Reader and Second Reader wnductthe church setvices and testimony meetin85. A President conducts
church business meetings. The members elect these offlcers. The generdl managernent of the church Is the
responsibS1ity of the Executive Board of four. unpald members Ithe Trustees). The board15 elected each year
at a Members, Meeting in early November, and take up office the following February. They hold the office
for one year and for no more than three years consecutively.
