IT specialist Kevin Deadman, runs our webstte, emails and creates our Newsletters along with his wrfe Sara. They are Beaver parents. SGOUt Leader RiGhard Taylor, who is also Leader Representstive. Richard communicates on behalf of all the other Leaders at the Board of Trustee meelings. He is the Quarterniaster and looked after our minibus and he also ran the Christmas Tree fundraiser this year. Parent Volunteer MalGolm Paine. organises our annual Regatta fundraiser event which includes the catering and stake boats over two Vleekends. He is a Sea ScoLrt parent. Property Cowordlnator lan Abbott. takes care of our property as they require maintenance. He is a Scout parent. Membership Co-ordinator Vicki Randall. Organises the waiting lists and linking as the children move through the Sections. She is also our DBS check coordinator arKI rnanages thè annual census. Section D Achievements and performance Remembrance Da and New Rev'd at St Peters Chureh The Group was proud to have the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Sea Scouts representing the Group at this special Remembrance Day Service as they do each year at St. Pelers Church. We would also like to say thank you to Alison Swaddle and Richard Taylor, of our Leaders along with Michael Paine, a Trustee, for attending the Service of InstitLrtion. Induction and Installation of The Rev'd Kate Wakeman- Tots3ood at St Peters Church in January. Fundraisin In December, we ran a Christmas fundraiser at Dobbies in Hare Hatch where Cubs and Scouts enjoyed netting Christmas Trees and carrying them to customers. cars. We also ran a guess the weight of the Christmas cake CoM￿ltI0n which was very popular. Thank you to Scout Leader Richard Taylor for organising, and all those Cubs, Scouts and parents who volunteered. Thank you to Vicki Randall's husband Chartes for baking another amazing Christmas cakel We raised nearty £4,0001I A great Suc￿ss. In June, we ran our Regatta fundraiser event held over two days on th8 River Thames. where our older Cubs and Scouts manned the Stake Boats at the start line of the Rovring. At the other end of the rowing course, we provided Catering to the event, cooking and serving bacon rolls. burgers. teas. coffees, cold drinks and snacks - all prepared and sepled by our team of adu￿ volunleers (parents. Leaders and friends of 84" Reading). Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event happen, includiThJ Sea Scout Leader Alvin who ran the Stake Boats. A special thanks to 17-year-old Dan￿1 Tapp. a former Scout, who worked on the till full time for both days. A huge thank you to Sea Scout parent Malcolm Paine for organising the event and raising circa £4,000 for our group. Another great successl We will need new volunteers to run this again next year- so please volunteer with the funl Summer Cam 2024 In July, we had our Summer Camp at Femy Crofts which was enjoyed by all. Our thanks to Scout Leader Richard Taylor and Cub Leader Lisa Methvan for organising the tsrnp which included 48 children. 12 Leaders and five parent helpers. We are now looking forward to Summer Camp 20251 Finch Road Rofurbl8hment Over the last year: we have seen the farrtastic refurbishment of our Finch Road site. We would like to give a special mention to lan Abbott, a Trustee and Scout parent. who has wt hours of hard work into making this happen. Thank you. ui menu Minibus This year we gavo notiG¢ to the leland Sailing Club as we no longer required the storage for our boats which were in a poor stale and not sèaworthy. We saved one boat, Uncle Napoleon, which is now being stored at our Finch Road stle as a future project for our Sea ScoLrts. We have also said goodbye to our Minibus which had sadly come to the end of rts lrfe. We will continue without one for the time being and assess the need for one over the coming year.
