## Chairman’s Trustee report AGM 16[th] August 2023 7.30pm at the Pavilion Caister on sea Charity no 268208

Welcome everyone here I will reflect on the progress since last year but start with a reminder of our main objective as a committee and a charity “to encourage the community to use the green space for all types of activities .”

Since our last AGM a lot has changed in some ways it’s been a difficult year with the food crisis, energy price increase and interest rates going up. Never has there been more need for the public to get out there take part in groups, sporting activities or just meet up in a safe place with friends. For me I have observed many people saved from a downward spiral, and at times had to learn how to listen. I personally want to thank all our committee members for your efforts how ever small or large without you we can’t achieve anything, and more importantly we are all volunteers working for the same goal.

This last year saw a huge hike in our energy costs rising to almost £1200 per month we have had to just accept and couldn’t do anything about it , this all comes to an end next month with a new contract as prices drop .Our biggest investment by far this year next to the new flooring in the changing rooms was the renovation of the old ATC hut now called the community spoon. This was achieved in 5 weeks from the 1[st] Feb 2023 when the building became ours. It is growing into a community asset and gives us so many more options as a charity.

Here is a list of some of the activities for Caister playing field,

Bowls , scouts, cubs, bevors , explorers Cricket , adult and youth ,Football Adult, Youth and ladies ,walking group , Norsuf beginners run group ,Dimensions social club, Parents group , Yoga ,tai chi , Recently bereaved group, Army cadets ,dog training, baby sensory group, Knit and natter ,chatter box

Some of the highlights of the past year was as follows, hosting the biggest ever two day festival and the music being a success .Watching Caister kicks grow from about 20 kids per event to 80 , the opening of a food larder for the village ,Getting the keys for the hut walking inside and thinking calm down lets get stuck in !!!! getting a free water pipe courtesy of Essex and Suffolk water run to the middle of the field and we’ve only used it once as its rained every day since , the community mural and finally the setting up of the men’s shed which is a massive asset for our village please don’t under estimate it.

I look forward to the many projects for the following few months and your continued support.

Russell Ray

Chairman
