THE DOUGLAS MARTIN TRUST

TRUSTEES' STATEMENT (Reg. Charity No 267876)

1) During the year grants totalling £18537.20 (2023-£17365.13) were made to or for the benefit of deserving persons with the terms of the Trusts objectives. This was a slight increase over the previous year.

2) The total funds held in the bank accounts at 5th April 2024 amounted to £64494.04 (2023-£48786.42). The Charity Property investment Funds invested total £600,000 currently valued at £573650.14 (2023-£606494.17)

3) The Douglas Martin Trust increased the amount of donations during the year. Income exceeded expenditure by £15707.62. The income of the trust comprised of interest received on Trust funds and Dividend income from the Property Investment funds.

4) Two new Trustees were apponted during the year to assit with dealing with Trust Matters.
The Trustees who have authorised grants during the year to 5th April 2024 hereby agree the acccounts for The Douglas Martin Trust and declare that they have made available all information and explanations for the preparation of complete and correct accounts for The Douglas Martin Trust.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of The Douglas Martin Trust
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
As the Charity’s Trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of section 43 (2) of The Charities Act 1993 (The Act) does not apply. It is our responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43 (7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report
Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts
Independent Examiner’s Statement
In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention :

1) which either gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements have not been met as follows ;

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord to the accounting records and which comply with the accounting requirements of the Act

2) or, to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
