The funds available are sufficient to maintain the financial viability of the Scout Group.

The other assets of the Scout Group are the buildings (the Headquarters Buildings and garage), which are insured for a rebuild value of £103,275, and equipment which is insured for the value of £18,803.

The land on which the Scout Headquarters is built is leased from Havant Borough Council by the Scout Association Trust Corporation on behalf of 1st Hart Plain Scout Group.

During the year, 1st Hart Plain was successful in securing Grants from Hampshire County Council totalling £5,425 and a donation from Wickes, utilised to make a number of improvements to the Hut,which is shown in the venue maintenance cost.

In February 2024, a group of 15 Young People and 4 Adults went to Norway on an exciting Winter Activities Expedition. This is reflected in the figures showing under Events Scouts -Norway Trip, in both the Income and Expenditure report. Although this ran at a loss, the scouts can be commended on the fundraising they did as a group.

In January 2024, Paul Toogood and Elaine Wyles took over the role of Joint Treasurer.

## **Comments from the Auditor and retiring Treasurer for year ended 5th April 2024**

When costing any events and payments will be received through OSM, the OSM fees will be deducted from the amounts received therefore this needs to be taken into account when looking at overall costs for the scouts group as a whole

It seems that OSM catagories in the cash book do not all match all the values on the OSM systme when you looking on the system in more details. This happens when a payment is made to one person but covers more than one expense category.

OSM fees are higher this year due to the HPN24 trip and actually the group as a whole has funding this additional cost of £30.30/£1000 received. This has not been allocated to the HPN24 costs which is already showing a loss of £428.94.In the future the costings need to be done in more details and the committee has to have this signed off.

That being said it was a great thing for Hart Plain to do and maybe there needs to a trip like this budgeted for every 4 to 5 years where fundraising is done over this time period. This may also help retain numbers of scouts.

There are insurance costs this year and it was unpaid for a number of years previously, as no invoice or reminder was ever received.
