The Charity's objects are to develop the work of the Christian church in Basildon and the surrounding area by the advancement of the Christian religion; relief of poverty, suffering, sickness and distress, the advancement of education and other such activities as charitable and in accordance with English law.

The main activities of CTB are:
- a) to enable Churches in Basildon to bear a more united witness in the community and to serve it more effectively
- b) to provide a free hot meal and drink throughout the year, 7 days a week and support to any adult in need, rough sleeper or homeless person.
- c) to bring a Christian message to primary schools in Basildon, by attending and running assemblies on termly basis.

Section D Achievements and performance
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
We are grateful for the generosity of our supporters and the dedication of our volunteers, who have enabled us to continue and expand our activities this year. There have been only two joint celebrations in the year, where member churches join together for time of worship and a message. Our main activities are centred on the homeless and primary school children.
The support for the homeless (58:7) operates 7 nights a week providing a free hot meal and drink. Guest numbers fluctuate but have increased during the year from between 10 and 20 a night to up to 25 a night. The guests bring with them needs varying from genuine homelessness, mental health issues, addictions and simple loneliness.
We provided clothes where needed and in the colder months, sleeping bags and tents. The increase in numbers was due to an increased in the homeless plus other people who needed a hot meal. The meals are prepared by a team of volunteers, some of whom provide the meals for free, others we pay up to £2 per meal, 3,070 paid meals were provided in the year.
We are not expecting a reduction in the meals provided, we have however seen the need for our services being required because of the cost of living crisis. In particular last September we started to support the local Salvation Army food bank, as they had to restrict donations due to lack of people donating to them. We were able to contribute £2,920 during the year.
Our school activities through STM are now taking place in 26 schools in the area. This work enables us to reach more than 10,000 children plus teachers each half term with a Christian based message at their assemblies. The work has now extended to supporting some schools with RE lessons, with conversations taking place to extend this into more schools.
The puppet team no longer goes into schools but continue to record videos, which are uploaded to You Tube so they are available to schools. We are exploring with schools using the Puppet videos as aids in their RE lessons.

## **Section F Other optional information**
We have been reviewing how CTB can more widely assist people with Financial difficulties, in particular supporting the work of Christians Against Poverty in Basildon. We hope to finalise the arrangements for this before the end of the year. We are also seeking to continue the Youth for Christ activities that have been taking place in Basildon but bringing them under the CTB operations.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended **30/ 09 /2023** .
- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
