INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL EXAMINERS REPORT
To the Trustees Recycled Hayling Musical Society Charity no. (if registered) 267293
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Hayling Musical Society for the year ended 30 June 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under s. 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under s. 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
(1) accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
(2) the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

CHARITY OBJECTIVES
The object of the Society is to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts, to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts and in furtherance of this object but not otherwise the Society through its management committee shall have the following powers: -
-
a) To promote plays, drama, comedies, operas, operettas and other dramatic and operatic works of educative value.
-
b) To purchase, acquire and obtain, interests in the copyright of or the right to perform or show any such dramatic or operative works.
-
c) To purchase or otherwise acquire plant, machinery, furniture, fixtures, fittings, scenery and all other necessary effects.
-
d) To raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever by way of subscriptions, donation and otherwise, provided that the Society shall not undertake any permanent trading activities in raising funds.
-
e) To do all such other things as shall further the objects of the Society.
ACTIVITIES AND REVIEW
The Charity has consolidated during the financial period in order to be in a position to apply for grants for future ventures planned.
During the period, musical performances of ‘The Wizard of Oz Junior’, ‘9-5’ and ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ were staged in order to raise funds for the Society. A license was applied for I love you, you’re perfect, now change’ for future performances. We would like to thank all who took part.

TRUSTEES’ RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). The law applicable requires Trustees to prepare financial statements of each financial year that gives a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the statement of accounts; and
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue its operations.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable the Trustees to ensure that any statement of account prepared by them complies with the regulations under Section 132(1) of the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

1 Accounting Policies
1.1 Accounting Policies
The principal accounting policies adopted by the Charity, which is a public benefit entity, in the preparation of the accounts are as follows.
1.2 Basis of preparation
These accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the inclusion of charitable properties and fixed asset investments and investment properties at valuation.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (effective 1 January 2019) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011.
These accounts are presented in pounds sterling and rounded to the nearest pound.
