The trust is governed by a board of trustees with a management group controlling day to day tasks and working on specific projects. In the main all are volunteers drawn from Riley motor clubs in the UK or have Riley business or family connections. In addition we have a team of local volunteers who staff the archive premises in Coventry. Trustee and Management Group meetings are held on a four and six per year basis respectively and predominantly by Zoom.
The trust's archive unit which is situated in Coventry Canal Basin attracts considerable interest from the general public. Casual visitors are welcomed on a drop in basis while organised visits from education authorities and vintage car groups can be arranged as required.
The archive unit is open on two days per week plus most Saturdays and on other days when project meetings are held or when visits have been specially requested by interested parties. Casual visitors are always welcomed whenever the unit is being staffed regardless of the activity. Special open days in 2023 included support for the national 'Drive It Day', the combined annual rally of the Riley Motor Club and Riley Register and the Canals and Rivers Trust's Water & Wheels Event.
The trust's public outreach programme for the year included a comprehensive display of photographs, stories and memorabilia at the Bugatti Owners Club Prescott Historique event, the Midland Automobile Club Shelsley Walsh 'Classic Nostalgia' and VSCC Loton Park meeting where the work of the trust was promoted. The 1898 Riley Replica was displayed at the combined rally of the Riley Motor Club and Riley Register and at the NEC Classic Car Shows.
The trust's commitment to Education was demonstrated throughout the year by the continued expansion of the webpage and digital archive which is available for research by anyone in any part of the world and through continued participation in the Classic Car Loan Scheme. Here the aim is to encourage young drivers to become involved in Classic car ownership by loaning a qualifying vehicle for a one year period. The trust has a fully maintained 1967 Riley Elf permanently offered to the scheme and the handover ceremony for 2023 took place at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. The trust also had representatives at the Coventry Schools Primary Heads Seminar.
The second phase of the 1898 Replica project continued throughout the year with regular Management group meetings being held with the design and manufacturing contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and tendering processes. A target programme for stage completion was drawn up and monitoring progress against this programme is ongoing. Sponsors of the project are regularly advised of progress.
The trustees were satisfied that the Objectives of the trust are being monitored and achieved and that procedures and accounting methods have been observed in accordance with the Charity Commission's requirements. The trustees are aware of the requirements of the Charity Commission Annual Return and intends reviewing all areas of reporting at its forthcoming meetings.

Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordan with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {"the Acl'l. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 AGI and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(51{b) of the Act. Independent The charity's gross income exceeded £25,000 and l am qualified to examinerfs statement undertake the examination by being a qualified member of The Charterèd Institule of Management Accountants. I have completed my examination.
