The Riley Cars Archive Heritage Trust Charity no. 266905

Report for year 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2020

The RCAHT's main thrust throughout the year was in the setting up of a physical archive in Coventry and of a digital archive which could be accessed by anyone anywhere in the world. The trust's name was changed from 'The Riley Cars Heritage Trust' to 'The Riley Cars Archive Heritage Trust' in order to reflect the Educational aims of the trust and to emphasise the role of the archives in meeting these aims.

Covid 19 has hampered progress throughout the year and meetings have had to be conducted via Zoom. However progress has been made on acquiring premises for a small library archive in Coventry and preparations for decorating and design work have been ongoing.

Much work has also been done on creating a digital archive and specifications, tendering procedures and initial discussions have all taken place within the year. Contracts for web design and document scanning have been placed and work begun on retrieving, sorting and presenting information.

Discussions were held with Coventry University on student participation in restoration work on two veteran Riley vehicles and this theme will be further investigated with other universities and student groups in the future.

The trust's replica 'First Riley car of 1898' was displayed for a period of several weeks at a prominent school in Coventry culminating with a presentation on the design work that had been completed at the school in 1896.

Consideration was also given to joining a Classic Vehicle Loan Scheme whereby a young person will be loaned a trust owned Classic Riley for a period of one year. The aims of this scheme are to promote interest in Classic vehicles in young people.
