The Charity'5 ongoin8 attivities and policies are set at distretion
of the Trustees in accordance with the objertives of the Trust Deed.
Thè Trust's principal activitv IS Its grant rnaking programme, which Is
financed by Income derived from the Charity's inve51meni portfolio.
As far as possible. on a ye8r to year ba515, the Trusteès seek to spend
thi5 incorne ori viable, well researched charitable project5 in
accordance with the objects of thè Trust Deed and Lady Blakenham'5
wishes.
Under the terms of the Trust Deed. the Trustees have wide powers
of investment at their di5crÈtion and are speciticalty allowed by the
deed not to diversify The Trustee5 maintain a substantial balance in
C35h to enable them to fulfil any emergency grant requirements.
The power tc appoint new or additional Tru5tee5 vested it) the
5etilor during her lifetirne and thereafter in the existing Trustees.
The Trustees have adopted a policy in the event of the appointment
of H new Trustee which includes a brief induction and training proces5.
Thi5 includes a meeting w4th the existing Trustee5 to advise on
investment policy, the 8rant making process and the power5 and
responsibilities of the Trustee5. In addition, ary new Trustee will be
provided with a copy of the latest finantial statements and annuil
return and any recent investrnent rEPOrts.

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance
conta￿￿ed in the Chority CornThi5sion's general guidance on public
benefit when reviewing the Charity'5 aim5 and objectives and ￿￿
planning future èctivitie5 and setting the 8rant mèkin6 policy for the
year.
The Trustees are satisfied thar all gfants made during the year are for
the benefit of the public and thèt the benefit of each and every grant
see note 4 in the tinancial statements.
The Trustees consider all organisations that they have supported
duringthe year to be of equal importance.
Plan5fer Fuiufe Periods
The Trustees look forward to continuing to make further charit3ble
donations In the future.
Reseryes Policy
It is the Trustee5' intention that any Surplus income should carried
fopward for distribution a5 Part of the grant rnaking programme in
the following year. The deficit of £19.509 has been deducted from
the unrestricted funds in the incorne account. The policy on reserves Is
revlewed annually.
Risk Polity
The majof risks to which the Charity 15 exposed, as identified by the
Trustees, have been reviewed ond the Trustees are satisfied that the
system5 are in place to mitigate those risk5.
